Of course, I stayed up until 4 a.m. finishing a project that was supposed to be due this morning... woke up at 6, saw the delay til 11, woke up at 11, saw the closure, checked my e-mail and found out the project isn't due til 4 p.m. tomorrow. Oh well.

Ah yes. I just left my apartment at 8:15 not knowing that UT is closed. It is normally rush hour right now, and there were about 3 other cars on the road. I made it about 3 blocks, and almost went into the ditch a few times. The roads are seriously like an ice rink. I said fuck this and came back home at 12mph and now find out UT is closed until 11am. I think I am taking the whole day off.

As for FARC in Columbia...yeah, maybe they kill people because of the drug trade, but ask yourself - why are they even in the drug business? Could it be the HUGE profits they reap on the American black market that is created by federal drug laws...? Nah. And sending our troops to fight covert wars in Columbia does more harm than good.

And you say these killings have been going on since 1975? So why did the government only start to highlight the alleged link between drugs and terrorism after 9/11? Because they're grasping at straws. The government knows the War on Drugs has been a failure, year in and year out.

Besides, Columbia = cocaine. Mexico = pot. And I don't know of a whole hell of a lot of terrorists organizations in Mexico, much less any that would want to attack America. After all, our pot smokers and drug laws are keeping them all in business.

My favorite is how they link smoking pot to teenage pregnancy. I know people will argue that it is easier for teens to get weed than alcohol, but I still think roofies and booze contribute a hell of a lot more to teenage pregnancy than pot.

Yes I believe the "drugs fund terrorism" spiel. How much of it funds terrorism in America, probably none. But how many innocent families have been killed, kidnapped, tortured, etc by drug funded Communist thugs in the jungles of Columbia? Countless.
Actually, it's about 25,000 killed since 1975. Killed by FARC, a communist insurgency which peddles Cocaine, Hash, and, and, aaannnnd, marijuana on the US market.

HOLY SHIT! I hadn't looked outside since about 7:30... damn... still waiting for a nice website update... and still haven't finished my project that's due tomorrow.

Yeah, having grown up in Chicago, I had my fair share of snowball fights. I just spent 20 minutes sliding around my parking lot on the way to the mailbox...it was fun. I remember when bad winter weather meant one thing -- a day off from school. Now it means:

1) Oh shit, I hope the power doesn't go out and I freeze.
2) Oh boy, traffic should be fun tomorrow.
3) How am I gonna get this ice off my windshield.

Oh man, you guys are missing one hell of a snowball fight on the Jester Courtyard. It all started on 21st street between Moore-Hill and Brackenridge. There were hundreds of people out there. The cops blocked the street from Speedway to San Jacinto. Then everyone moved to the courtyard. Even the football and basketball players were in on it. Good times. I got lots of pics. With a disposable camera, nonetheless.

When they delayed exams two years ago, it was posted on the website... I'd say just keep checking there, and perhaps UTDirect for announcements... they cancelled school in Arlington--I just got off the phone with my parents. I'm just hoping for a delay til noon so I don't have to turn in a project at 9:30. Then again, a whole day off would rock--I have 4 boxes of Girl Scout cookies.

So are classes cancelled tomorrow, or what? I'll be damned if I'm going to spend 3 hours on a road/ice rink trying to get to campus. I heard that the roads were so bad in Austin this afternoon/evening that it was taking like 3 hours to go 5 miles.

Well boys and girls, I just got back from my long vacation to Waco and let me tell you...IT WAS A BLAST! I have a lot of fun there for some reason...probably because of the people I know there, but it's a nice town. Very cold today though...had to drive about 55 down I-20 because of the ice everywhere. Anyway, get back to doing something latently homoerotic.

I was taking my marketing test this afternoon in the big UTC lecture hall, and a pigeon somehow got into the room. He walked around on the stage for a few minutes, hopped down the steps, walked halfway down the right-hand aisle, then flew manically around the room before perching on the lights above the stage. Funniest thing that's happened in a class in a while.

I have seen Alex Jones on public access a few times, and was even interested enough to watch for a bit. He's pretty much as extreme as one can get without being hauled away by John Ashcroft's Secret Police, but the problem is that he is too confrontational. I mean, some of the stuff he says is just plain nuts (yeah, like the government orchastrated the WTC attacks on 9/11...uh huh) but some stuff he says is actually on the mark...like right after 9/11 he said the government would use the tragedy to curtail our rights...and bam, the USA PATRIOT Act gets passed a month later. But he likes to confront public officials and bombard them with conspiracy theories and basically they just dismiss him as a wacko instead of listening to what he has to say.

I've lost count of how man Mardi Gras I've been to... ten? eleven? Probably more. The good west bank parades are earlier in the Mardi Gras season, then the good downtown/uptown parades start as Fat Tuesday approaches... I don't think I'm going to make it this year (free place to stay on the west bank, but no one to drive with), but I will definitely be going next year. When I was sixteen, I was standing there with a beer--cop walked up and said "Hey, you need to put that in a cup, not drink it straight out of the can". Greatness.
