i went to MG in 'nawlins last year. what a jolly time...got lost looking for a place to take a piss, started talking to some chick who ended up being a bible beater opposed to mardi gras (i thought she might've been able to help out in my state of lost-ness), and got lost on the drive back to the hotel. good times were had by all.

Just so everyone can become more learned, Mardi Gras' carnival season started January 6th. Contrary to popular belief, the party lasts the whole 2 months, just with the last 2 weeks before Fat Tuesday being the craziest because of the parades starting.
That website was fucking hilarious. I was rolling on the floor. Every link was funnier than the next. Especially the one about how the government bombed OKC and let Al Quida destroy the WTC. I couldn't stop laughing. The fact that the website isn't even a joke site makes all the funnier.
Thanks libertarian, you just made my night.

Yeah, that was a pretty sloppy game. In the first half, we looked like we borrowed some offensive strategy from guys that play on Rucker.

Sure it was an exciting game, and i'm glad we won, but did anyone else notice just how ugly it was? Both of our teams played sloppy, played like crap. Rather disconcerting.

I was pulling for the Aggie win, but I also don't watch everything through maroon colored glasses. If thats us shooting and Tech "fouling", then everyone would be complaining if there was no call. Watkins wasn't too upset about it, Jackson wasn't too upset about -- maybe there was a reason?

Bullshit. You never call a fould with 4 seconds left unless its a crazy one. Unwritten rule. You let the kids play it out.

Which all of us could clearly see from the terrible angles displayed on the replays?
There's nothing I hate more than people complaining about the referees call on something they have a terrible viewpoint of. It was a big shot, Jackson is a small guy, Jackson tried blocking the ball while it was still in his hand, and Jackson's arm were not straight up. 9 times outta 10, thats gonna be called a foul.
We played tough, we lost...

TTF is when you pre-pay your kids college tuition at today's rate. That way, the school gets the money today and can invest it and make interest off it from now until your kid goes to school. And while, as a parent, you get to pay today's rate instead of the rate 10 years from now...you could probably just privately invest the money instead and it'll grow faster than the tuition rate. Unless tuition gets deregulated...because right now I don't know of any investment with a return of 30%.

The tuition is locked at A&M, the incoming freshmen and transfers took a huge dick this year, where as everyone else didnt.

isn't the TTF for parents who start saving money for their kids, and when the kids enter college, the tuition is what it was when they started saving? (i might be way off base)

You don't lock in the tuition rate when you start college. You get fucked over with everyone else everytime they raise it.

Not to ignore the fact that Tech and A&M, and all the other state schools, are facing tuition and fee increases--but UT's fees are already ridiculously higher than other schools. I'm still relieved that the proposed infrastructure fee wasn't passed. Tuition deregulation by the Board of Regents is bad news--a 30% increase ain't going to be easy on anyone's wallet, and if they actually go through with the "If your parents collectively make less than 40K a year, your tuition is free" idea, I'll die of shock. Putting a student on the Board of Regents isn't going to do jack shit, either.
I paid $5200+ in tuition and fees this year... that's ridiculous. It's not so much the tuition that worries me (don't you lock in at the rate it's at when you start college?) as it is the fees.

About the tuition... I bet all state schools are raising to meet a budget cut. Tech is increasing by an average of 19%.

Why dont you jus become an emansipated adult. Its a pretty simple process. Your parents can no longer claim you as a dependent on their taxes or insurance tho, but that way you get better deals on loans. My cousin did it the day she turned 18 to get better financial aid.

I had to pull $15,000 in loans this year to pay for school. That's ridiculous, and I'll be damned if I'm going to increase my loan amounts next year. What sucks about pay for school yourself, but having your parents theoretically make enough to cover all of your expenses is that you get jack shit. You have to be married, have a kid, be a grad student, or be 24 to be indepedent in the eyes of the government. Since I am none of those things, I'll just continue getting hosed.

well actually, my parents are divorced and i live with my mom...well, i mean, i lived with my mom...she's the only one who does anything tax-wise. paying for school sucks ass, especially with constant fee increases and deacreases in financial aid, for some unknown reason. fee increases really piss me off, especially when i still get fucked. ah, financial is a joke in my book, but i'm not gonna get started on that.

I'm sorry to hear that, Fat Tire. I imagine it's pretty tough to pay for school. Personally, I'm pretty spoiled. My parents still pay for my car insurance and up to a tank of gas a week. It seems like your family can get some huge tax breaks. I am assuming your dad can claim you as a dependent still.
And Kelly, thanks for that information. That is exactly what I wanted to know. I loved that quote. That completely answered my question, very interesting. I guess people don't really care what kind of cow is used. It just hit me as kind of odd and made me think that Chic-fil-A thinks (or knows) that the public is a bunch of idiots. But it's not like I'm going to stop eating there just b/c they use a Holstein. And I'd imagine that the dairy cattle are slaughtered and eaten when they stop producing milk.
