Speaking of the UH football stands, I've got a question to pose to the board ...

Do people really think that UT was whining about the seats? We were guaranteed 10,000 tickets, which is roughly a third of that stadium. We were well aware that almost 8,000 of those seats were bleacher seats that had been constructed for the sole purpose of holding us visitors. We asked the University of Houston to inspect said bleachers THREE WEEKS BEFORE GAMETIME. However, the president of the university chose to do that inspection three DAYS before the game. Of course the stands were found faulty (I'd bet three in four temporary structures at ANY stadium are also faulty), but now, there wasn't time to replace them. Those 4,000+ seats were simply done away with. Now, were Texas fans offered a refund? Yep, but they had to go through the UT ticket office. Was the University of Texas informed that the stands were declared bad and that they had 4,000 fans on the way to claim refunds? Nope. Deloss Dodds found out about the fiasco on the damn 6 o'clock news. Was any attempt made to move the game to Rice Stadium to HONOR THE CONTRACT SIGNED BY UH THREE YEARS EARLIER? Nope. So, fuck Houston. Fuck the commuter high school in the fucking third ward (fourth? who knows?) of the ghetto in downtown Htown. Bring them here next year, we'll beat them again by 35+, and no top-10 team will ever visit there again. You've dug your own grave, Cooga high.

Nice job on the ticket Matt.

Yes they get cable in Oklahoma. And for future knowledge I'm in Dallas, Texas not Oklahoma for the time being.

Hey If they made a sidelines show about OU. I'd watch it, but that's my team. I wouldn't go bragging about it or making a big deal about it, since I know the rest of the world could give half a shit about it. Some people might be interested but for the most part it's just gonna affect me in my happy little bubble.

What a bunch of jealous bastards. Cry about the stupid UH football stands and now cry about "Sidelines". Nobody likes a whiner.

I've got a feeling more people are interested in Sidelines that you people think. He'll, I'm as anti-aggie as they come, but I was quite intrigued by the little preview they gave us during halftime of the A&M game a few weeks ago. I think it's more interesting just to see the inner workings of a big-time college football program than anything else. It's no so much Aggie this or tradition that. Just how a team prepares to play in front of 78,000 people. If the ESPN guys do go into the "highlights" of College Station or start blowing their load over the "traditions" of A&M, that's when I'll turn off the set.

I watch ESPN almost every night for sportscenter and when there is an interesting game on. I don't plan to watch any of the 'sidelines' series and the only place I have even heard of A&M getting any show is here on the message board. Must not be a big deal outside of the CS Bubble. I actually own Varsity Blues (gift from an ex) and only watch it if there isn't water boiling somewhere that I can watch instead. But hey you guys keep arguing who's gonna get air time. I won't be watching.

or tech's band outfits :) they're pretty bad too...or osu's band..wait do they have a band? :)
did any of y'all happen to go to lubbock for the 1997 aggie-raider game? their horse crapped right in the middle of the field on their emblem. it was the funniest thing. it didn't make up for having to suffer through that game though. :( i was sitting right in the middle of the raider section with my best friend and my voice was totally gone by the end.
oh, and about the sidelines thing--a&m was picked out of a bunch of other schools to be the subject of this show--it's not like we went out looking for it or anything, so quit whining that you're not going to be on tv petus--come hang out at the chicken during the texas game and maybe you'll get a shot to see yourself on espn.

Nothing is worse than the McNeese St. band. Awful, just awful.

One of the main reasons A&M is being featured in "Sidelines" is because Kirk Herbstreit (sp) of Gameday recently ranked A&M as his favorite place to go for football. The fans and traditions are the reason why. It was followed by 2)anywhere in the SEC and 3) Nebraska ...as for UT tradition? I've never actually heard of one except for dressing the band up in the gayest possible outfits and letting them march around.

Hey 4 hours between classes IS a long time. Sometimes I'll make 10-12 posts myself instead of doing something like...study....or sleep.

I have to agree. I doubt that any top 5 team has ever dropped out of the top 25 after just one loss.

Petus,

Damn, ok, you win, intelligent one. Could you not have gathered your ideas into one post?(no I cant handle reading 4-5 posts, Im not intelligent enough) Give me one example of a top 5 team dropping out of the poll after one loss.

On my gosh, I like totally know what you mean. Being single is like the best ever. I totally love being single because it is so much fun. But I better get back to working on my M-R-S degree. So, I better get back to working on that, bye bye.

only four posts refuting what i said or trying to put me down?!?! i will have to do a better job next time. i thought there might be a problem with you understanding my last sentence but didn't feel like taking the time to write it more clearly, so just to clarify, my last sentence was supposed to be read as follows: in fact, that argument is not [a)backed by any evidence or material], [b)intelligent], [c)nor does it make any sense]. i hope this clarifies things for you, since you are pretty smart and i wouldn't want you to feel confused.

Hey, as far as I know, A&M didn't beg and plead to be the subject of "Sidelines"...apparently someone at ESPN thinks it'll make good TV. Hell, I watched the HBO series on the preseason with the Baltimore Ravens. Now, I could give two shits about the Ravens, but it had to do with football and it was an interesting glimpse behind the scenes, so it got my attention. And Raven fans weren't the only ones who watched it.

You'd be surprised how many different personality types are at A&M. It's not all Bible-beaters and cowboys, and anyone who thinks that is plain stupid. That's like me saying all Longhorns are pot-smoking hippies. Sure, there are a few...maybe even a few thousand...but for the most part if you put 50 Aggies and 50 Longhorns in a room you'd have a hard time telling them apart based on looks (and even personality) alone. If you are confused as to why A&M is being featured in a docu-drama by a major sports network, take it up with the network. Don't degrade the school though and predict that the show will suck. If "Sidelines" does indeed flop, then a few producers will get fired from ESPN and you can give yourself a big pat on the back.

OMG!!! Y'all I totally forgot what it was like being single. I am so glad that I am. I am kinda sorta talking to this guy who is well basically a roadie for this band that u might have heard of, but I am not going to mention names. Basically I have the hook up and one of the guys in the band told me I would have to go to Austin to party with them, and I said cool, I already have Cam's number. So I am like in with the band. These are things I can now do being single. Lets give a big whoop for the single life. WHOOP!!!!

The whole point of the series is to showcase a college that centers their weekends in the fall semester around a football game. If you happen to watch ESPN, they already did the same thing with a high school football team somewhere up east in the past.

ESPN "Sidelines" is not marketed towards, nor reliant on, the same group of people as a "Top 50" movie is. Someone who watches ESPN enough to actually watch a series, is actually a pretty big sports fan... Your "Top 50" movies remark holds no water here.

volcano the movie grossed as much as varsity blues did. no football movie is in the top 50 grossing releases of all time (still looking down list for best football movie).

did you ever watch coach? how long did you watch it? football shows do ok by in large, but not all make it.

your forgetting the point: your view is shaded, so is mine. i merely stated an opinion, with more than m&a brainwashed pride as 'evidence'. your school isnt that fascinating to me. I dont think the show will make it through the full 12 episodes i think they are going to run (without being moved to a different timeslot with minimal viewers).

and radio, read your last sentence, and say something about intelligent again.

Monday Sep 24th 11:56am
Petus ®  - UT Austin

when was the last time you watched a show about the green bay packers, or the chicago bears, or the seattle seahawks. how many times have you watched rudy? do you own varsity blues? would you watch a show about the ut football program and the people surrounding it? you claim my lack of evidence, while making broad erred generalizations.

its like saying there is a god because there has to be.
