shut up, youngster. you know not what you are dealing with.

Snicker.

Stupid shit? What in my last post was stupid?

Ah, the inanity of youth.

We have 2 dead days here at A&M - yesterday and today. Finals start tomorrow, and end on Wednesday. Good luck everyone!

then why do you post such stupid shit.

and to Bab03, sinker.

In all honesty, after taking even one Engineering final on a given day, I'm wasted. Usually was up half the night studying, and 90% of them were comprehensive. It was pure hell taking two of those bastards in a day, much less three or more (ashley). I know for a fact that my grades would suffer if I had to take any more than two exams in a given day.

This is NOT directed at Asheley, or any other poster, but more of an in-general thing. The colleges of Engineering and Pharmacy appreciate the days between finals. Perhaps commo, natural sciences (minus CS), and/or business could handle multiple exams on one day, but it would totally kill the hard sciences majors. Likewise for the 2 hour break between exams. It's not for studying, it's for recuperation. If you're lucky enough to not need that time, then be thankful.

How many dead days do A&M and UT have?

Thursday Dec 12th 11:20am
Bob03  - Texas A&M

Heres the real deal. We have 4 days of actual testing time for finals. Ags know how to get the job done quicker and not dick around. What that means is we get the same amount of shit done less time spent. How does that make you better prepared for the real world?

Cause that makes sense.

See, that's the problem with three hour finals and two hour breaks between finals. No final needs to be three freaking hours long. Like Josh said, very few tests actually take the entire time. The only one that has ever taken me that long was a calculus final because my prof was a bitch and she did the best she could to fail everyone with the final, so I was trying to get all the partial credit I could. Otherwise, no more than 2 hours for a final. And 2 hours in between really isn't necessary either. As Kelly pointed out, you're not really going to get that much studying done anyway. Not productive studying anyway. That's the whole damn reason it takes a week for us to take our finals. Knock it back to two-hour exams with 30 minutes between each one, you can have 5 exams each day. Start on Wednesday, finish on Saturday. I don't know about you guys, but I'd rather have all my exams on one day and get it over with. Last fall, I had three finals, two of them were on Wednesday, the first day of finals. The last one wasn't until the following Tuesday. That is one messed up system.

I also kinda had the feeling during finals that it was the one time of the year where school absolutely, positively had to come first. During the semester, if you want to go out on a Tuesday night, go. If you want to skip class on friday to travel, see ya! Ya know, kinda whatever. But during finals, you've basically got six days to complete a job, and many times in the real world, that means working on the weekend. Just another reason why Longhorns are better prepared for the real world than Aggies!

Hook, line and ...

can they not run a check to see if you actually do have a permit?

Thursday Dec 12th 9:19am
Kelly ®  - UT Austin

1) I have a permit, it was hanging in my car, but the attendant must not have seen it.

2) I have a permit for ____ lot, but it was full, and I had a (final, appointment at UHS, had to pay my registration)

That's the ones that I've seen work.

Someone's gotta have an answer to this. What are valid reasons the UT Parking&Transportation folk will accept when you appeal a parking ticket?

I don't know. I had back to back (in that sense) finals one semester, and I didn't get jack shit done in the time between the finals. Of course, the first one took all 3 hours because it was physics, and I completely blanked on one concept and took an hour to remember it... but still.

My friend took all 3 hours on her history final last night, and wrote 18 pages. I, of course, figured she'd take 2 hours tops, so I called her at 9 to see how it went. She, of course, left her phone on during the test. Oops.

And it's nice to have the break, but it sucks to have finals take 6 days to end. That, and every time I say "yeah, my Saturday morning final" to any Aggie, they stare at me like I've grown another head and say "no way do you guys really have Saturday finals".

Thursday Dec 12th 7:56am
josh  - UT Austin

Yes, finals on saturday suck. But really, the only shitty combo with UT's finals is a 7-10 one night, and a 9-12 the next morning. Otherwise, it's rare that your final even takes 2 hours, much less three (my senior year, no final took more than 1 hour). Plus, if you end up with 3 finals scheduled on one day, one of your profs is required to move their final for you, as you're only required to take 2 tests per day, as per university guidelines.

You guys have 2 hour breaks?
We have a 3hr test followed by a 30 minute break, assuming you have 2 back-to-back finals. But it's cool, cuz I'm done with mine.
Good luck on finals, everyone.

I don't see what is wrong with UT's final schedule. 3hr tests, 2hr breaks. What's the problem?

Wednesday Dec 11th 11:52pm
Kelly ®  - UT Austin

I'd just like to say two things:

1) Finals suck.
2) Whichever idiot came up with the finals schedule at UT should be shot at dawn. God knows that the thing I want to be doing for three hours tomorrow night is taking an Italian final, then hauling ass back home to start studying 104 TYPED pages of advertising notes.

Let me clarify, new money usually smells like something extravigant, e.g. Land Rover. Most of the old money ive seen smells like A 3/4 ton Suburban and a corvette. You cant tow your big ass sport fisher with a Rover. The 'vette is conducive to other leisure activities.
