and to Bab03, sinker.
In all honesty, after taking even one Engineering final on a given day, I'm wasted. Usually was up half the night studying, and 90% of them were comprehensive. It was pure hell taking two of those bastards in a day, much less three or more (ashley). I know for a fact that my grades would suffer if I had to take any more than two exams in a given day.
This is NOT directed at Asheley, or any other poster, but more of an in-general thing. The colleges of Engineering and Pharmacy appreciate the days between finals. Perhaps commo, natural sciences (minus CS), and/or business could handle multiple exams on one day, but it would totally kill the hard sciences majors. Likewise for the 2 hour break between exams. It's not for studying, it's for recuperation. If you're lucky enough to not need that time, then be thankful.

See, that's the problem with three hour finals and two hour breaks between finals. No final needs to be three freaking hours long. Like Josh said, very few tests actually take the entire time. The only one that has ever taken me that long was a calculus final because my prof was a bitch and she did the best she could to fail everyone with the final, so I was trying to get all the partial credit I could. Otherwise, no more than 2 hours for a final. And 2 hours in between really isn't necessary either. As Kelly pointed out, you're not really going to get that much studying done anyway. Not productive studying anyway. That's the whole damn reason it takes a week for us to take our finals. Knock it back to two-hour exams with 30 minutes between each one, you can have 5 exams each day. Start on Wednesday, finish on Saturday. I don't know about you guys, but I'd rather have all my exams on one day and get it over with. Last fall, I had three finals, two of them were on Wednesday, the first day of finals. The last one wasn't until the following Tuesday. That is one messed up system.

I don't know. I had back to back (in that sense) finals one semester, and I didn't get jack shit done in the time between the finals. Of course, the first one took all 3 hours because it was physics, and I completely blanked on one concept and took an hour to remember it... but still.
My friend took all 3 hours on her history final last night, and wrote 18 pages. I, of course, figured she'd take 2 hours tops, so I called her at 9 to see how it went. She, of course, left her phone on during the test. Oops.
And it's nice to have the break, but it sucks to have finals take 6 days to end. That, and every time I say "yeah, my Saturday morning final" to any Aggie, they stare at me like I've grown another head and say "no way do you guys really have Saturday finals".

Yes, finals on saturday suck. But really, the only shitty combo with UT's finals is a 7-10 one night, and a 9-12 the next morning. Otherwise, it's rare that your final even takes 2 hours, much less three (my senior year, no final took more than 1 hour). Plus, if you end up with 3 finals scheduled on one day, one of your profs is required to move their final for you, as you're only required to take 2 tests per day, as per university guidelines.
