Franchione is a businessman, he will go where the money is, but there are a couple things to consider. The first is that Bama probibly told him they would be clean in a year(now),at this point it looks like the program could get 5 more years of probation. Second, A&M has a huge talent pool, and R.C. is probibly gonna help recruit more. Then theres the fact that it seems Franchione likes Texas more than just a bit, he spent alot of time here and when he was at TCU 2 of the 4 teams that could sign him w/o a buyout were Texas and A&M. After all of that i must say this, Fuck Bama, their arrogant alumni got them into all this shit by thinking they were bigger than the NCAA. If Bama had no sanctions against them, this wouldnt be a problem, we would have offered him a contract and he would have respectfully declined. Then he would be hailed as a Bama loyalist and their savior. Now he's ours.

You don't think he had a job offer from A&M when he made those comments about an extension with the Tide? You seriously believe that Wednesday was the first he ever heard of it, and they hammered out a contract in less than 24 hours? Come on. The way everyone has been spinning this in the media, we've all been guessing. But it's pretty obvious now that Franchione was on his way in before RC was fired. That kind of deal doesn't happen overnight. He knew he was leaving the whole time, and it doesn't take much of a man to tell his players by video conference that, despite the loyalty speech he gave them, he's getting the hell out of dodge. I'm not talking about "teary goodbyes," but he could have done it with a lot more dignity and respect for his players than he did. They wanted to leave too when they got offers from other schools, but he talked them into staying. Then, when he gets a better offer, he decides to jump ship without a word to his team. Like I've said, he will probably do well at A&M, and I feel pretty sure he will raise the Aggies to a more competitive level, but his inability to fulfill a contract (disregarding buyout clauses) doesn't recommend him much, as far as loyalty is concerned.
