The one thing I like about this year is that there is no one team that looks certain to make it to the Fiesta Bowl. Miami has talent, but they haven't shown it recently and are only a missed field goal from having their repeat hopes virtually eliminated, and they still have games against two top 25 teams. Oklahoma has no top 25 teams left in their current schedule, but they have a game at Kyle Field(if our team shows up), their rivalry game in Stillwater, and most likely the Big XII Championship game against another tough team. OSU still has two road games left, and the season finale at home against Michigan. Reminds me of '95 when a 9-0 OSU team with players such as Eddie George, Orlando Pace, and Terry Glenn saw their Rose Bowl hopes disappear when they lost to Michigan. At least the game isn't in Ann Arbor this year. It's sad to say, but it isn't too far-fetched to predict a Texas/OU national championship. And if our team is going to suck ass this year, might as well have an all Big XII Fiesta Bowl.

Kelly ... while most sooners DO have sticks up their asses (they couldn't win in Lincoln, so of course they aren't going to give us our due), I don't have a stick up my ass. OU is the best team in the country right now, and I really don't see how there can be any question. #12 (or something) ISU gained like 7 yards in the first half, on the way to a 41-3 (or something) destruction at the hands of the Sooners. #12 ranked Colorado, a notoriously good late-season team, rolls into Norman and leaves with it's tail between its legs by some other rediculous score. Meanwhile, VaTech, ND and UGA lose, and Miami trails at home in the 4th quarter to Rutgers. Yes, 1-8 Rutgers.
OU is the best in the land. That said, I want another shot at those sister-fuckers in Arizona. Damn, and how. That would NOT be a ring-toss game.

I think we should just accept that OU fans have huge sticks up their asses and are unable to recognize quality wins unless the winning team has "OU" or "Miami"--or hell, anything but "Texas" in front of it.
UT played an incredible game. Jammer rocked, Simms rocked, Williams rocked. You can say what you will about Nebraska not being a big game, but talk to the 75 teams that have lost there over the recent years and ask them if it was a big game. I have nothing but respect for the quality way the Longhorns played, and the guts they showed. Keep in mind that big plastic bubble practice field or not, UT hasn't played in weather conditions like those in Nebraska, or anything close for that matter, all season. For Williams to put in the game he did while still not being at 100% in the freezing temperatures is pretty damn amazing. Simms was the player of the game, no questions asked.
And besides--I'd say we deserve to be where we are in the rankings. Sure, Texas has lost, but they're saying it over and over--Texas is the best one-loss team in the country. You can bitch and moan about "big games" and "quality wins" and "Chrissy Simms". But ask Notre Dame if the BC game wasn't a big one--BC's not even ranked, so where's the descrepancy? At least our loss came at the hands of the #1 ranked team in the country... ranked, not straight up #1, because I'm still not sure of that one.

Exactly. Nebraska may not be as good as they typically are, but let's put things in perspective. Major Applewhite and Chris Simms are the only QB's and Mack Brown is the only head coach to beat the Huskers in Lincoln in over a decade. Over the past four weeks, we've played Oklahoma, Kansas State, Iowa State, and Nebraska. 3 ranked teams, 2 night road games, and we walked away 3-1, losing only to the team that is currently first in the BCS standings. I'm sorry, but that's huge.
Chris Simms threw for 419 yards and 2 TDs, with pretty much only one receiver, and played part of the game with a dislocated finger. How you can sit back and claim that his performance was merely "good" is beyond me. He could not possibly have played a better game. But is my sincere hope that when the Aggies roll into town in a few weeks, he shows you just what being "good" is all about. You remember what happened the last time A&M took the field at DKR against Simms, right?

If not for that phantom offensive pass interference call, Texas would have run the clock down and Nebraska wouldn't even have had a shot. It's just a good damn thing Texas won or there probably would have been an uproar over that. Both players have the right to fight for position, and any shoving that occurs before the ball is thrown is not pass interference in any way, shape, or form. Big 12 officials have got to be the worst in the country, particulary Steve Usecheck. As soon as I saw that guy, I knew we were gonna get screwed.
As for the Big XII South title, it could work to our advantage if OU wins it. If we win out, we're all but guaranteed a BCS bowl, and if OU should happen to lose the Big XII title game, Texas could take the Nebraska route to the Fiesta Bowl, assuming only one team finishes the year undefeated. If I were betting, I'd go with Ohio State. Miami is placing seriously complacent football right now, and they still have to play Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh, neither of whom will be intimidated by the Hurricanes' recent performances.
