I know it's the student body's fault if SG only represents the 5% who actually vote for them. I'm not disputing that. But to parade around and act as though their resolution represents what the entire student body believes is ridiculous. And that's really beside the point. What good is their resolution going to do? Even if news of this vote did reach Bush, do the 20 students who passed the resolution really think they're going to make him change his mind? It's a waste of time and money. Apparently, some of the SG members in favor of the resolution claimed they will try to make sure those who voted against it are not a part of the assembly next year. Yes, let's get rid of those people. Heaven forbid someone should actually support the man we elected to lead this country. SG is supposed to represent the student body to the people who run this university. Their job isn't to tell me how I should feel about political issues. Like someone in the Daily Texan said, SG has a consituency. Find out what the student body actually thinks before you write a resolution and pass it off as the opinion of everyone at the university.

Well, that's retarded. I hope that girl didn't get elected... Anyway--if you ever have a chance to work on an SG campaign (find a friend that's running whose platform you agree with), you should do it. It's cool, you're involved, and then you are more than welcome to bitch until the next election.

Fat Tire, you are a strange one.

curious...how many of you guys voted? i didn't, so i cant' complain. girl in my MIS group was on the "One" team, or something...i can't remember...and she was like "yeah, y'all should vote for me since y'all are in my group. i was like "uh, ok. should i vote for you as prom queen, too?" ah, SG election time is annoying.

and yeah, i got my boob implants a couple weeks ago. they're still sensitive and it hurts to play with them, but i get my jollies, and people pay more attention to me. can't forget to mention that i can get into any club i want for free. hehe

I think it's pretty damn cool. I also know that it barely passed. So this may not ever even reach Bush. Maybe no one in Washington will even pay attention. But the fact that SG is concerning themselves with matters other than the burnt orange street signs impresses me... Whether they were elected by 5% the student body or not, we have a kick-ass SG this year, and we're going to lose some good people next year. People are constantly knocking college students for not living in the real world, and not paying attention to the problems--just going on about their business in a little bubble. For once, they're trying to show that they care what happens outside of the UT campus, and whether they show that via this resolution or any other stance, I think it's something that should be applauded. Notice that those opposing the resolution simply opposed the resolution--not the fact that they were attempting to concern themselves with a national concern.

You think it was a stupid idea? Run for an office next year. Vote. Otherwise, live with it. It's not as though the other 45% of the student body was unable to vote--they simply chose not to. It's their own fault if SG only represents 5% of the students on campus.

I agree 100%, Bluto. When I saw that quote in the Daily Texan that said "the student body of the largest university in the nation feels an unprovoked war is wrong," I almost fell off my chair laughing. First of all, what the hell difference does their little resolution make? Secondly, like you said, only slightly more than half of the student assembly voted to adopt it in the first place. 20 people out of a campus of more than 50,000. Big freaking deal. I hope they aren't taking themselves too seriously or anything.

Is anyone else a tad bit mystified as to why the UT Student Government felt it necessary to pass a resolution opposing war in Iraq? I mean, I know they have pressing matters to deal with, such as implementing burnt-orange street signs on campus, but since when did a group of know-nothing idiots elected by 5% of the student body feel it necessary to pass a resolution concerning US foreign policy...and then trumpet to the media that their vote represents the viewpoint of all the students at the Nation's largest university? Give me a fucking break...all that resolution represents is the viewpoint of 20 liberal morons looking for a resume booster. What's next? The Chess Club passes a resolution condemning nuclear weapons? Yeah, 'cause that would make about as much sense.

It's all about knowing people. And you certainly are going to the wrong bars as well. Ain't no way I'm paying cover anywhere. And I almost never pay more than a $1 for a beer. Gotta learn the drink specials too. I should make a page that has all the drink specials for each night the way aggienights.com or whatever site that was has. Anyone care to send me an e-mail with some of that info so I don't have to look it up?

Well, I don't have 1) boobs, or 2) connected friends in high places....so....

That's why you go to any bar with the esteemed UT webmaster. He tends to know the door guys. I remember a time when about 4 of us got into a bar and not marked as minors.

Yeah, but you avoid paying cover and you get strong drinks if you just know the right people.

I miss College Station because of the cheap ass drink specials as well. I remember Karaoke Night at Shadow Canyon on Wednesdays where you could walk in with $10 (no cover charge) and have enough money to drink 10 beers. Here in Austin on a Friday or Saturday you have to pay five fucking dollars just to have the privilege of entering the bar and buying their overpriced, watered-down drinks.

OH, how I miss College Station - not paying cover at a night club, 3-dollar pitchers, bar-hopping, Wings N' More, being able to listen to Houston radio stations, ODPhi parties, making fun of a certain sorority, University Commons, Aggie Band, raging college kids in a drunken stooper... :*(

this might sound weird, but I had never heard birds chirp at night until I moved to College Station.. I miss that..

Has anyone else noticed the big trailer house behind the business school? Pretty damn funny-looking.

And who paints the windows at the Co-op? Whoever it is, they need to learn the difference between Iowa and Iowa State.

"faggies"? That's the best you can do, you schmuck? Pathetic...

33-27-1 overall series record in favor of A&M. I'll just keep reminding your dumb, West Texas hick ass about that for the next 345 days.

Actually, the significance of the tortilla throwing is two-fold, first, we had an All American who was Hispanic, it was a long time ago, so i don't remember who. And secondly, about the same time, 10-15 years ago, we beat the hell out of A&M and their lame ass QB shot off his mouth and said Tech students "aren't good for nothing but making tortillas", so we began throwing tortillas during the A&M game, and the tradition just kinda spread from there.

Just thought i'd remind all you faggies, and don't worry I'll keep it up for another 345 days.

nah, it wasn't me. it was some chick that fell asleep leaning on her guitar. still, pretty damn funny. how the hell someone can fall asleep on the NR is beyond me. i haven't see too much funny shit this year, 'cept a girl running by Dobie who busted her ass. i contained my laughter, though, 'cause i know that's gonna happen to me someday.

Good lord you guys are dorks. I dont even know any of you guys but I heard about this site so I had to come here and confirm the extreme homosexuality of all of you. Go out and get some ass (you all will probably prefer same-sex, but oh well) and stop writing to each other about stupid-ass shit. You people are the biggest losers in the damn country.

Hey Wheatables, me and Brad are sitting over here and we were just thinking about how bad you suck man. I mean you really do. You look like a flaming homo and you act like one too. Remember that cool picture you had on here of you dancing on that Bourbon Street sign? Man, that was gay as shit. I'm sick of you. I wish you would burn in hell. Now I know you're going to say that I'm just another LCC dipshit or whatever gay comment you have to defend your homosexuality, but you suck ass. I hope you die tonight or some night soon. I hope you fucking bite the big one.
