Here you go.

As if the Harry Potter franchise didn't have enough trouble with the religious right and such, now this.

cut and paste, cut and paste.

No, I'm glad she'll remember me. In this class, being known is crucial.

I don't know, my Human Sex teacher remembered me 5 weeks after I had a run-in with a chair that was a little too comfortable.

Honestly, it really wasn't too scarring. I mean, I laughed longer and harder than almost everyone else. And plus, even in a class of 500 students, what professor isn't going to remember the student who fell out of her chair?

And my friend offered to buy me whatever beer I wanted when I told her. Unfortunately, I have to function in the morning, so that's been postponed.

and Fat Tire--what bus line do you ride so I can watch for the drooling sleeping guy?

i like how you point out the seven prominent athletes. i mean, 'cause that just makes it so much funnier than it already was.

just joshin'. is "funnier" even the correct way to say it, or is it "more funny"?

oh, and at least you didn't fall asleep in the bus and start drooling on yourself.

My advice to you is to start drinking heavily.

Lessons in how to embarrass yourself in front of 50 people, seven of whom happen to be prominent school athletes:
step 1: attend a 2 hour statistics review
step 2: go brain dead towards the end
step 3: slump down in your swively chair in exhaustion
step 4: decide this is a very comfortable position, and attempt to slump even further
step 5: suddenly realize that you're taller than you realized when you fall out of your chair
step 6: turn bright red and laugh uncontrollably along with the other 50 students, the professor, and 3 of the TAs.

what a day.

A few comments to some of the posts below:

I shall not start arguing academics and such more than I have in the past. The petroleum engineering department at A&M is ranked #1 in the nation, and I can be happy with that.

Although CEO is usually a sign of prestige and hence a large salary, let's remember that CEO's can come in many forms. I am a CEO.

When you think of mass transportation, just remember that Homer always says that mass transporation is for losers. Maybe that is why Arlington is the largest city in the world without a mass transportation system.

Tuesday Oct 22nd 5:02pm
josh  - UT Austin

Chivas - the goal of a true mass-transit system is to get rid of buses. They don't work. Mass transit isn't glorified cars, it's trains, subway stations and walkways that go where the people are going. If the fucking city of austin would quit proposing amtrak stations that stop in leander and south austin, we may even have one of our own one day.

The buses are terrible.

Tuesday Oct 22nd 4:43pm
Chivas  - UT Austin

I'll tell you the reason why mass transit is a trend that never has, and never will, catch on in America...

...Austin buses. Period. Disguisting.

Nevermind. It's useless to argue academics with Tech students. They brainwash you like crazy there, apparently.

Chivas:
Yeah, I know, sorry about that... So BRAD, you grow up, too!

Kelly:
Every school is going to have departments that are better than the others. I could say the same thing about UT not having an awesome pulsed power program within it's EE department, but I'm sure their EE department has specializations that we don't.
About SAT scores, etc... do you really think a standardized test is all that good? It's just numbers, it has no way of testing the true intelectual capability of any person.
Anyhow, there isn't THAT much difference between the scores... average SAT/ACT for UT: 1217/25, Tech: 1113/24, A&M: 1178/25.
Other facts:
Faculty with PhD's: Tech: 88%, UT: 89%
According to PrincetonReview, Tech offers near twice as many majors as UT.

Chivas  - UT Austin

JD, I think your comments about "growing up" could be more effectively directed at your fellow Lubbockite, Brad, who was the one who initially implied that he, as a Tech graduate, would do better than a "mother fucking" Longhorn grad.

Tuesday Oct 22nd 3:04pm
Kelly ®  - UT Austin

Even if you don't trust US News, the discrepancy between SAT scores of admitted students, as well as admission rates, ought to say something. To say nothing of freshman retention rates, departments, specializations within the department... last time I checked, Tech did not have separate sequences for creative and media in their advetising department... now, tell me who a media planner at an ad agency is going to hire--me, with a media sequence from the top adv. school in the country, or someone from Tech? Hmm...

Tuesday Oct 22nd 2:52pm
JD  - Lubbock Community College

Chivas:
Show some respect, man. Geez.
Even though you refuse to admit it, Tech is a great school (along with A&M and UT, even though I hate to admit it). The only reason we're tier 3 is because that's where we DESERVED to be about 10 years ago. It doesn't take much to drop through the ranks, but it's tough to raise through them.
Employers don't really care what USNEWS thinks, honestly. Employers recruit from schools which they have a reputation with, schools that have produced quality employees for them in the past.
Trust me, I've worked in industry, and I am personal friends with multiple recruiters.
I'm willing to bet, especially in engineering, that if you compare graduates from Tech, A&M, and UT, that you will see very little, if any, difference in the offers made by employers. This goes for salary, the percentage of offers made, etc...

Grow up. Arguing about which football team is better is one thing.. it's fun, it's stupid... nobody takes offense to it. When you talk about quality of education and career placement, be sure you know what you're talking about before you decide to slander.

Tuesday Oct 22nd 2:19pm
Chivas  - UT Austin

>and I have one major and I bet I do better than you when we gradutate mother fucker.
>So why don't you talk some more shit and I will see you on your long journey to the middle.

Yes, Brad...because we all know that "gradutates" of UT can never get jobs, but LCC grads go straight to CEO. Nobody, especially employers, really pays much attention to the differences between a Tier 1 and a Tier 3 school, right? Of course, if you're aspiration in life is to settle down in Lubbock, then I guess LCC was a good choice.

And as for the "annoyed ut student"...go fuck yourself. You know this site rocks and you just wish you had friends.

Hey "Kejuan" -
I'll bet you anything you want right now that OU doesn't rush for 200 yards total against A&M. As much as it pains me to say this, their front four is arguably better than UT's, as a whole. Ask VaTech what it's like to try and run against that D.

Anything you want, sooner bitch.

Kelly,
I think Murphy's Law is in effect during that situation because if you look your worst and he's still attracted, you're money.

Tuesday Oct 22nd 9:52am
Kejuan Jones  - Somewhere not in Texas or not important

I know the people from the school that lost to TEXAS TECH aren't talking shit, are you? The dude from Texas talking shit, you sure the hell can't say anything, Crissy Simms was unable to hook your team up two weeks ago. A&M will be a tough game, no doubt, but OU will pull it out. Both teams have a great defense and offense, however, the same sorry ass wrecking crew that lost to Texas Tech will have no luck with stopping Griffin or Jones.

Peace

ooh, that has to hurt.

you know, for all of the shit texas gets about their schedule and losing to OU, at least we managed to limit our losses to challenging teams last season.

This is my advice to everyone on the planet ... if you find yourself diving into what I call the "transitive theory of football wins", STOP. Team A beating Team B who beat Team C does NOT make Team A better than Team C. Think in terms of the current week only.

The quickest way to move up/down in the BCS polls is to move up/down in the AP or coaches poll. The second quickest way is to lose to Oklahoma State.

Tuesday Oct 22nd 8:09am
Kelly ®  - UT Austin

Someone help me out here--it's early, and logical thinking isn't my strong suit. If A&M beats OU, and UT beats A&M, would that aid us in the BCS standings even though we lost to OU?

I have got to buy a more obnoxious alarm clock. I've fallen into the habit of turning mine off in my sleep, which I normally wouldn't care too much about. However, I meant to wake up at 7 this morning, since I still had to print out a page of my project, and that required going to the UGL since my printer broke... takes me fifteen minutes to walk to the UGL... project was due at 9:30... woke up at 8:50... shit.

And is it Murphy's law that every time you see a cute member of the opposite sex on the bus, it's the morning that you ran out the door in five minutes and look like it?
