Goddamit I hate nightmares from college. I had a dream last night that I had finished one of my math finals (can't remember which one) in like 20 minutes. I turned it in, and proceeded to go study for my next test. I got to the site of the next test only to realize that I had forgotten to do the first two problems on the first test, which is undoubtely why I finished so fast. Scared me shitless - you engineering majors know what I'm talking about.

OU still sucks. And you aren't #1. Once Miami beats VaTech and FSU, you'll get passed. Of course, once you lose to A&M, you'll drop like a lead weight in a vacuum.

the good thing about living on 31st is that you can walk to class, no problem. the bad thing is that if it starts raining when you're halfway there, you're fucked. especially when you're umbrella-less.

annoyed UT student - i think it's more on the clever side, than the gay ass side.

The significance of the tortillas is that back in the day we had an all american who was hispanic or from Mexico or something. That is about it, and I have one major and I bet I do better than you when we gradutate mother fucker. So why don't you talk some more shit and I will see you on your long journey to the middle.(Almost Famous)

I've noticed this funny trend among LCC students. They all seem to be triple majors. Just read their newspaper (University Daily) online, whenever they list someone it's like "Billy McStupid is a sophomore philosophy, psychology, and english major". I guess if you go to LCC, you need 3 majors and then hope one of them will get you a job!

lcc is in the southeast?...interesting.

You know, I think we almost got penalized for the same thing in the OU game when some of our fans started tossing their foam Tostito hats after we began to suck.

Sorry about that, Ashley. I guess I just got used to arguing with you... haha

Anyhow, honestly, I'm not sure where the tradition stems from, but I know they've been doing it for years, back into the 80's at least. This is the first time I've seen it penalized.
I did some research and found out the SEC refs banned it when we were in the SEC, but nothing about big 12. It was just out of the blue, they decided to start penalizing us.
It might be that we've got such a huge hispanic population and there are tons of mexican food places in Lubbock. :)

JD, I think you meant Kelly. I didn't say anything about tortilla tossing, but since you mentioned it, what is the significance of tortillas?

Brian:
Interesting point about the players... I'm not really sure what their take is on the tortillas.
I guess I always assumed that they supported it because I've never seen anything to make me think otherwise.
I am sure that after Saturday they either strongly hate it or will strongly encourage it to spite the refs (when we play Baylor, anyway... because then it won't really make a difference... :) )

Arturo, what an intelligent come back. Instead of actually thinking of something to back your school up for their actions you choose to throw profanity and further disgrace your fine school. You could have atleast come back with something like JD who has a very valid point. I agree that tortillas thrown on the feild is not that big of a distraction. It poses no threat to the players or anyone who might be hit by one. The only thing it does do, in my opinion, is show disrespect for the players, the field and, if Leach really did make an announcement, the school. So to you Arturo "Shut up bitch".

Ashley:

Actually, you weren't there, so you don't know...
Nothing "interfered" with the game!
It was just some ref who got the attitude that he could save the world by penalizing tortilla tossing.

Did I say that I think all Aggies are like that? I wouldn't be on this board if that's what I thought. But the same can be said of Texas fans. Just because most of them are idiots who will believe whatever their fraternity brothers tell them doesn't mean we're all that way, yet we all manage to get lumped together in everyone's generalizations.

I am inclined to defend Simms, and I realize that bothers a lot of you. But I think it's pretty sad what he's had to go through in the mere pursuit of playing a game, especially given that he's not a bad QB. I will not deny that he hasn't lived up to his hype, but he busts his ass to represent our school and he puts up with way more crap than he should have to, just because his last name is Simms. I don't feel sorry for the guy because he's fortunate enough to be doing what he loves everyday, but even lackluster performances in a few football games don't merit what his own fans have done to him for three and a half years. No other player in the game has to put up with that shit, and neither should he.

Josh,
I don't live in Norman. I live in Irving, Texas. And actually Norman is a nice college town, tons of trees, subburb of Oklahoma City, 2-3 hours from home. Everything within walking distance. No hippies. No ton of openly homosexual people pushing it in people's faces or flaunting it. Dorms so close you can role out of bed, put on shorts and t-shirt, and literally walk down one flight of stairs across a 2 lane road and into a classroom building all within 5 minutes just so you can go back to sleep friday morning for the duration of class. It's great. Clean Air. Nice People. Relatively small school. It's great. So make all the fun you want. I liked it when I was there.

It's one hell of a lot nicer than lubfuck.

Since when did the unrealistic ramblings of a handful of fans represent the sentiments of an entire school's fan base? Don't honestly tell me you think the people on TexAgs.com represent all A&M fans...

Monday Oct 21st 5:52pm
Ashley ®  - UT Austin

I know it's a website for Aggies and I have no issues with them being proud of their team for putting up 40 points three games in a row. But there are actually people over there saying Dustin Long deserves the Heisman as much as anyone else in the country, that A&M has a better offense than Miami, OU, or Texas, and that no defense in the Big 12 stands a chance of stopping A&M for the rest of the year. Texas fans can say stuff like that, even on their own websites, and get endlessly criticized for it. So when someone accuses Texas and OU fans of talking shit while pretending Aggie fans aren't going a little overboard also, it's slightly annoying.

shit, everyone gets worked up so easily. i never said simms was a shitty qb. in fact, i think he's quite good. i just said he didn't live up to the hype generated before he was the starter, which i don't think any reasonable person would argue with.

If they are "talking shit" on texags.com, let them...It's a website for Ags. I personally do not care about what they have to say, because like earlier said by someone else, we were never expected to lose.

The first BCS poll was released at 5:00 today.

1 Oklahoma 3.92
2 Miami (Fla.) 6.41
3 Notre Dame 7.07
4 Virginia Tech 8.63
5 Georgia 8.69
6 Ohio State 8.89
7 Washington St. 19.44
8 Michigan 19.83
9 LSU 20.71
10 Texas 21.37

In the 4 year history of the BCS, neither of the top 2 teams in the initial poll have ever gone to the title game. Something to think about.

Ashley ®  - UT Austin

Ag, go over to texags.com and read the Dustin Long for Heisman thread. Then come back here and tell me Aggies are not talking shit.

OU_Architecture_Guy:
What does this argument have to do with Bob Stoops and Mack Brown and Chris Simms's record against Top 10 teams? I was bitching about the fact that people are "blaming" Simms after a win. What the hell do they have to blame Simms for? KSU was a top 20 team. We beat them. End of story.

It's not stupid when the tortilla tossing interferes with the game.

Monday Oct 21st 2:15pm
JD  - Lubbock Community College

I was in the student section at the game, and we had no idea where the penalties came from.
I never heard any kind of announcement from the officials or leach, other than the same thing the announcer has always said. We had no idea that was the reason for the penalties. If we had known, I'm sure the number being thrown would have reduced, except for those drunk idiots who come for the sole purpose of throwin tortillas AT the refs.
And that being a reason for penalties is BS. Tortilla tossing has grown in popularity outside of Tech, even into bowl games. It has never resulted in penalties such as this. It's stupid.
