Texas lost, so they must have sucked the whole way. By your argument, only one team is "in the race for the MNC" - the eventual winner. Texas may not be top-2, but they're definately top-15, better than 90% of the rest of the country.
And you're so full of it, it's not even funny. Texas fans are no more classless than A&M fans, who are no more classless than Tech fans, who are no more classless than KSt fans, who are no more classless than OU fans. Every fan of every school sucks, except for the school the defender attends. There are no truer words. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you stop looking like an idiot.
I've seen Aggie fans curse my mother, and I've had Aggie fans stop me on the street and thank me for my behavior at the game, and congratulate me on the win. Which is the proper indicator of "A&M football fans?" Likewise, I shared lunch with about 30 KSt fans when they came to Austin 3 years ago, and then had a number of fans call into question the whether or not I actually had a father. Which is the true indicator of "KSt fans?" And every school has their stories - UT fans are fairweather. Yeah, maybe more true than at some other schools, but A&M couldn't even sell out the game against (then #7) VaTech. What does that tell you? Nebraska fans travel well, and are the classiest fans in the nation, yet in was a group of Neb fans that made the paper for a drunken incident after the B12 champ game two years ago.
Chris Simms put us in a position to win against Texas A&M in 2000, and 2001, and against Colorado1 in 2001. Are these not big games? To say that he has "never done" anything is simply false. No one is calling him the savior anymore, cause he obviously isn't. But to call him a glorified backup is to be just as wrong as those calling him the blonde haired jesus.

Every college football fan is "classless". That is, unless you go to my school.
Every call against my team is a "fucking ripoff". The same call against the opposing team is "a great call, ref".
If we win a close game, the coach is a hero. If we lose a close game, the coach is a "fucking pussy" and needs to be fired.
If the QB throws 10 for 30 and we win, it was a great effort. If he throws 10 for 30 and we lose, he sucks and is overrated.
I have never played football at a higher level than intramurals, but every play called by the Offensive Coordinator in a loss was "fucking retarded"
Every school that has traditions is a "cult". Except, of course, my school.
Every college student not attending my school lives in a trailer park and has abnormal relations with animals.
I don't remember the good plays we made 5 minutes ago. I only remember the time, back in '98, when we fucked up and the coach should have been fired.
If we lose, I expect the opposing fans to be gracious. If we win, well, go fuck yourself, we're awesome and you suck.

Good points, Josh. Finally someone is making some sense.
I'm a little more incensed about this game than I normally would be because I've been arguing with a punk from A&M who generally knows his football but has recently decided that acting like a 5-year-old by continuously referring to Simms as "Chrissy" and "Christine" is more fun. I would be willing to listen to someone who can discuss the game without blaming everything on Simms, but as soon as that shit starts, I tend to get a little bitchy because it's extremely annoying to hear it over and over again, regardless of whose fault it might actually be. If we had lost because of Simms, I would be all for people criticizing him. But that wasn't the case on Saturday, and people with half a brain would realize that.
I do want to go on record and say that OU's defense is much better than I gave them credit for being. I knew they were good, but they proved to be a lot faster than I was expecting. Our offensive game plan became much too conservative after our first TD and the Sooners put a stop to it. For that, they deserve props. And Stoops definitely outcoached Mack Brown, as he has for 3 years.
I think people are selectively forgetting that Chris Simms doesn't get to call the plays. The number of times he throws the ball isn't his decision. As I said earlier, the guy isn't going to throw for 4 or 5 TDs when he only gets 26 attempts in the game. After we got our first score, Davis just decided to keep the ball on the ground as long as he could, with the mindset of "let's just try as hard as we can not to screw up" instead of being aggressive and trying to score points. Several times that Simms did get to throw the ball, his receivers made very little effort to catch it, with the exception of Roy Williams, who was the best receiver on either team, despite his injury. By the way, cheering BOOMER SOONER while he was down on the field??? Very classy.

Here's the bottom line - we are most likely out of the NC race this year. However, we were in the NC race this year until week 7, which is more than A&M, Nebraska, Colorado, Tech, and about 85 other D1 programs can say. That's a good thing. Losing to OU is a bad thing, but the sun will come up tomorrow. We can win out and play in a BCS, or even lose one more and still play in a tier-1 bowl. It's still a good season. Next year, we'll get a very clear look as to where the problems really lie, since Greg Davis will get a shot without Chris Simms at the helm. If it's the program, expect VY or Mock to struggle just as badly as Simms has. If it's the player, then expect VY or Mock to excel, because they're both highly rated players.

I believe I established the fact that our OL gave up a long time ago. That is why Simms took the sack. He had no other choice. If he had tried to throw it away, we probably would have seen exactly what happened to Rod Rutherford against Notre Dame.
The only top ten teams Simms has choked against have been OU (last year) and Colorado (also last year). But if you'll actually think about it, he didn't choke against OU this year and he didn't choke against Oregon in the Holiday Bowl two years ago. That was probably one of his best games (despite 4 interceptions), next to the 2000 A&M game. If you don't consider Kansas State (road game), Nebraska (road game), A&M, and maybe even Texas Tech (road game) to be big games for Texas and for Simms in particular, then maybe football isn't the sport for you. This is the toughest conference schedule Texas has played in a while. I realize Nebraska isn't as strong this year, but in Lincoln, anything can happen. Against ISU, it will be all about whether or not our offense can put it together. And that means the entire offense, not just Simms. He can't win the game or lose the game entirely on his own, contrary to popular belief. It's really kinda funny how everyone downplays games like the KSU game or Nebraska until Texas loses. Then suddenly it becomes another huge game that Simms lost. When is this crap going to end?
