I understand y'all squeaked by, and yes you escaped with the win (not held on, ESCAPED), but please don't try and dress up a close game to OSU at HOME by saying they are somehow better than the Tigers, or bringing up a game LAST YEAR against their RIVALS. Neither OU or UT's win was impressive, but OU struggling on the road against Missouri is far less embarassing than UT struggling at home against OSU.

Alabama has beaten Southern Miss, barely lost to Georgia, and whooped Arkansas on the road. Sagarin rating (which incorporates strength of schedule) of #25 (up there with Auburn, Colorado, Wisconsin, Oregon State, California, etc...)

Oklahoma State has beaten err... well... nobody good and hadn't won a game on the road. Sagarin rating of #68 (up there with Montana, Hawaii, McNeese State, and well... Nobody :) )

The only advantage I give OU is that they played on the road. Missouri is not a better team than OSU. OSU beat Oklahoma last year in Norman. And they almost did the same thing to us yesterday. This is the most improved team in the conference. Don't underestimate them.

Allright, well I just got back to Lubbock (gotta love that smell, the smell of money) and i'm gonna "show some class" as yall put it, and not rub in our victory. Not because i'm a "classless clown who found redemption" as I've heard said, but because that was one of the best fother mucking games i've ever seen. So i'll give yall some props, that was a great atmosphere, yall have a good football team, your girls are hot(still not as hot as Tech chicks), your traditions are (for lack of a better more descriptive word)cool, and damn that stadium was loud.
On to football talk..... why the hell wasn't this guy calling plays all along? And why the hell wasn't Long taking the snaps all season? And what's this rumor I hear about Jimmy Johnson in College Station? it made its way "all the way out to Lubbock" so its based on truth right? I hope not I kinda like beating up on yall.
Also, are we gonna get anything resembling respect now? Because i think we should. We came into Kyle Field, came from 18 points behind, beat a ranked team, and scored 48 points against an excellent defense. Why did we win? you can debate the mechanics of it all day, but in the end we wanted it more. We always get up for the A&M game and yall should learn to get up for the Tech game too. Whether or not yall want to call that a rivaly I don't care, but we do and we're winning pretty regular if you haven't noticed.

I know the BCS computer remarks were made a ways down, but the reason why the NY Times computer looked so crazy is because all of those computers are intended to be used closer to the end of the season. Since Texas had played only cupcakes, their poor strenth of schedule left them unranked. I think the Chronicle only printed it last week because it had A&M highly ranked and Texas unranked. That is why the BCS rankings aren't printed until several weeks into the season.

i'm pretty sure sumlin called the plays the entire game...we can't blame everything on rc. anyway, i'll be interested to see how texas's defense handles tech's spread. my guess will be that their d-line will be able to get more pressure on kingsbury and cause him to move around more (where his passes aren't nearly as accurate as when he sits in the pocket). also, i assume their d-backs can go man coverage and allow the linebackers to blitz more. the zone killed us, but i guess we were more afraid of the big play than the consistent 6-yard gain. maybe we learned something.

Missy, I know news travels slowly up to Lubfuck, but there is no longer a Galleryfurniture.com bowl game. And as for Tech getting a ranking...doubtful. However, you all might now get a few votes, seeing as you have had zero all season. I don't think you can call A&M's #23 ranking "overrated" when you consider most of the rankings were speculative because most teams had been playing pre-conference cupcake schedules...except of course for when the Ags played VA Tech. But I agree, A&M should be out of the rankings after the Tech game...our defense fell apart in the 2nd half, and good ol' RC did the old "hold my breath and sit on my lead" strategy until the Ags were down 38-35 and he let Sumlin start calling plays again...after which we started passing again and scored a TD in a minute and a half. Too little, too late.

Simms made a smart play when one of his passes got tipped. There were two Longhorns and a Cowboy ready to grab it, and it looked like our guys were gonna try to catch it way behind the line of scrimmage and Simms stepped up and batted it down so we wouldn't take a loss. Last year, he wouldn't have had the presence of mind to do something like that. He looked good yesterday. If our WRs would step up, we'd be well on our way.

As for the BCS, the initial standings will be released Oct. 21. The media polls used in figuring BCS rankings vary widely. I've seen Texas sitting at 4th in one and then the NY Times poll has us 29th, way behind A&M and quite a bit behind LCC also. In fact, A&M was ahead of Texas in every poll I saw. Of course, yesterday's games haven't been figured in yet. These polls tend to be extremely regionally biased. For instance, the Seattle Times poll will have Pac-10 teams higher than they should be and any teams that play Pac-10 teams higher than they should be. Right now, it doesn't mean a whole lot.

As much as I think the BCS is load of crap, they generally manage to produce a championship team that is deserving. Nebraska didn't deserve to be playing for it last year, but we all knew it didn't matter who played Miami, they would get their asses kicked. When the rankings come out, you can expect Notre Dame to be pretty high on the list, although if they lose to Pittsburgh (and they very well could) that could change. Should Texas win against OU and Kansas State, they'll be sitting close to the top also.

The offensive facemask penalty was the right call. Cedric began with a stiffarm, but then grabbed and twisted the dudes facemask. You can't do that. The 15 yard penalty came because Micheal Huff stepped on Rashaun Woods as they were both getting up. It too was the right call - a dumb play by a freshman that nearly cost us the game.

I was very impressed with Simms again yesterday. Very patient, made all the right throws. A few more catches and the game isn't even close. Our WR's have had a bit of the dropsies, and I don't like that one bit.
