UT has excellent academics; I would never argue that. My point was simply that the students there carry the school pride thing too far. It very well may rank higher than SMU in many areas (I have no knowledge of where the programs in marketing and MIS rank)

For the record, UT offered me a scholarship to study Electrical Engineering but the Digital Signal Processing at SMU is one of the best in the country (yes, better than UT) and they offered me a scholarship as well. My 'daddy' is not rich.

UT is one of the only Adv. schools in the country to have a media and creative sequence... Not many people will argue when you say UT has the top program in the country... How 'bout you? Or do you guys still just have marketing?

And just for good measure--I grew up in Arlington, and SMU was associated with TCU--the school you went to if you couldn't get in anywhere further away from home. Or if your daddy was rich.

You guys are amusing, but you really need to get over yourselves. I grew up in Austin; I love the town. The most annoying aspect of it (other than the dot-commers moving in and turning the lot across from Waterloo Records into a shopping center Dallas would be proud of) is the fucking Longhorn pride. People actually started chanting 'UT rules!' before some of the concerts at the ACL festival this weekend. I have news for you: many local Austinites refer to UT as Guadalupe Junior College.
I can't believe I actually agree with a Baylor student; show a little Texas pride.

A&M is not ranked #1 in total, rush, or pass defense.

A&M is #3 in total defense (behind UT and USC -- UT has played a comparable schedule to ours so far, USC has played a MUCH MUCH tougher schedule than us so far)

A&M is #20 in pass defense (behind a whole lotta people)

A&M is #4 in rush defense (behind Iowa, Bowling Green and #1? The team that left here last 2 Saturday's ago with a win)

Hey any school that has the name Texas in front of it is a great school. We should be bashing schools that don't have our great state's name attatched to it. Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Baylor, SMU, TCU, etc. are all great Texas schools. Why doesn't everyone stop bashing each other and bash schools from another states or better yet. why don't we bash another conference like the SEC. They think they are better than the BIG XII.
