Well, let's see. Last time I checked, you didn't get to use stats from the past two years to determine who has the #1 rushing defense in the nation three weeks into this season. So actually, no. It's not relevant.
Come on guys, I'm not trying to slam the Aggies here. I'm well aware that you have a great defense and I'm not trying to say that my prediction will be right on the mark. But I wouldn't use your first two games as a measuring stick, just as I'm not gonna use our first two games as one for us. I think A&M can beat VT, but I don't think they will tomorrow. Especially if they have to use Reggie McNeal, because that would either mean it's late in the game and it's a lost cause, or that it's fairly early in the game and they're desperate to score points. Using him against ULL is one thing, but if you have to bring him in against VT, that probably means something is wrong. RC can try to make a big mystery about the QB thing if he wants, but if he's willing to risk using a true freshman who's played about 2 seconds of college football before he absolutely has to, then he's even more of a goofball than I thought.

I hate to burst the maroon bubble, but having the #1 rush defense in the nation isn't much to brag about after only 3 weeks of football. Not to take anything away from the Wrecking Crew, because I do think the Aggies have an outstanding D, but we're talking about statistics here, and let's face it. You haven't exactly played any offensive juggernauts yet. Save your claims of superiority for the end of the season, assuming they're still valid.
I like VT to win this game because winning in football generally requires both a defense and an offense, and A&M doesn't meet this prerequisite. I'll give the Ags 2 TDs (wouldn't be surprised if they're both defensive), but it'll take more than that to beat VT. I would certainly be a happy girl if A&M could manage to win, given that it'll boost our position in the BCS when the inevitable occurs in Austin ;). But I don't see it. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
24-14, Hokies.

the A&M offensive football machine against la-la? Let's see ..
First score - 4 plays, 1 yard. Field goal. 3-0.
**HALFTIME!!!*** (yes, it was 3-0 at halftime)
Second score - 4 plays, 17 yards. Touchdown. 10-0.
Third score - 36 yard INT return for TD. No help from the offense. 17-0.
Fourth score - 8 plays, 53 yards. TD. A decent drive. In fact, the only one longer than 26 yards all day. 24-0.
Fifth score - 8 plays, 26 yards. TD. 31-0.
Of course, if you just saw that, you'd think, well, the offense did it's job - it scored when the defense gave it the ball. But then you would be mistaken. Let's take a look at the possesion(s) stats.
POS RESULT PLAYS/YARDS
1 punt 4/5
2 punt 3/4
3 punt 3/1
4 missed fg 12/74 (good drive)
5 FG 4/1 (ONE yard?)
6 punt 4/7
7 missed fg 4/0
8 punt 3/3
9 INT 3/5
10 INT 5/38
11 lost on downs 5/40
12 TD 4/17
13 missed FG 15/66
14 TD 0/0 (int for TD)
15 punt 5/15
16 TD 8/53 (there we go)
17 TD 8/26 (eight plays?)
18 missed FG 10/31
So, out of 17 possessions (don't count the INT return), the Ag's offense only mounted 3 drives of 10 or more plays (two others of 8 plays), and only mounted 3 drives of more than 40 yards. They also missed 4 field goals.
So yes, I'd say that the Ag offense has trouble scoring.
The vaunted A&M defense then proceeded to allow an 11 play, 80 yard drive to blow the shutout.
The only problem with this post is that similar stats could be had for the UT v. UNT game. Of course, we all know what happened in the second game for each team, now don't we?

Classy. And ya gotta love that name...AyCock.
Associated Press
LUBBOCK, Texas -- A Texas Tech football player is free on $1,000 bond after being charged with misdemeanor assault.
Ryan Aycock, 21, was arrested Monday after he got into a fight with Francisco Ortiz Jr., a worker at a sports bar, on May 26, authorities said.
Police said Aycock, a sophomore, punched Ortiz several times after he saw Ortiz looking at his girlfriend, knocking Ortiz unconscious.
A Tech spokesman said Aycock, a 6-1, 205 pound strong safety who is second on the team with 46 tackles, will play in Saturday's game against North Carolina State.
"As of right now, he's playing," Chris Cook said in Thursday's editions of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
Tech coach Mike Leach said he didn't know if Aycock would face disciplinary action from the school.
