I do believe most people know what the penalties are but looked like the head ref would come out and say "Off sides Number blah blah offense" and then go back to his happy little world....wouldn't continue on with the traditional "5 yard penalty repeat blah down" just sounded like there was something missing. Oh well so now the Big 12 is 1-1 with UT tonight. Wonder how Opie is gonna look up against the Huskies.

well happy holidays all. just watched the first big 12 team Iowa St. lose to Bama by a point in the Independence Bowl. Damn missed 47 yd. field goal with :51 seconds on the clock. oh well. There are 7 other teams that can still win.

Texas A&M may not have gotten into the Alamo Bowl, but did we ever stand a chance when the head of this year's selection committee is a tech grad. While I cannot confirm that tech did buy all of the 25000 tickets (although I firmly believe it), I can confirm that hotels and resturants are complaning, for this year's bowl game has not generated the usual amount of commerce. And don't even try to blame that on Sept. 11. The simple fact is that everyone knows A&M would have drawn a better crowd, because we have a much larger fan base. You cannot dispute that fact.
I bought tickets awhile back when I thought A&M might be there. I am still going to attend, but i will be in yellow. Go Hawkeyes!

The Sofa Bowl has 2500 tickets left!! That means that 62,500 tickets have been bought. Tech took 33,900 to the bowl last year. Go to FW Star Telegram or Dallas Morning News and look for past stories on ticket sales. If you want to see the attendance statistics go to NCAA.com and look for attendance facts for the 2001 season. By the way, those 2500 tickets will sale easily before the game to stragglers looking for a bowl game to go to!! Goodday and Merry Christmas!!

Is no one else here really eyeing Nebraska +325 on the moneyline against Miami and Nebraska +325 and Washington +400 in a 2 team parlay?

The Nebraska team that showed up at Colorado won't be back this game. They learned their lesson. Miami had to get a miracle to win at Boston College, and had a VTech team complete only 4 passes and still only beat them by 3. That means they gave up a lot of yards on the run, which we all know Nebraska and Crouch can do. Miami starting FB Davenport is out for the game. Granted he isn't that big a piece of the Miami team, but he was a solid FB and a great blocker. What gets me about his injury is that he is being replaced by a freshman. A freshman making his first start at FB in a national championship game? I smell a fumble or two.

As for Washington +400 at Texas, no Texas team I've seen play has been worthy of a -400 or a -13.5 points. You never know what team is going to show up. Applewhite hasn't had a start in quite a few games... I agree he's better than Simms, but again, he's only had one half of action recently, and he's going to be starting against a good Washington team. Lastly, you never bet against Rick Neuheisel in a bowl game. I've watched him coach two bowl games in person, and the man always has his team prepared. There is a reason he is the #1 pick for the Notre Dame coaching job, he is that good. Add to that there is the possibility Benson won't play, and that due to location, the fanbase will be tipped largely in favor of Washington fans... Too good to pass up.

The Nebraska game and the Washington game, at payouts of 3.25 to 1 and 4 to 1 respectively, and at a parlay payout of 20.25 to 1... is just too good a pick to pass up.

I mean, our defense is good, but TCU's isn't shabby either -- the Nebraska game is proof of that... and I don't even need to go into who has the more explosive offense.

It wasn't really attendance factors that were being used to say that Tech shouldn't get the Alamo Bowl...it was more like, who outside of Texas will care about Texas Tech? No one. Whereas Texas A&M would be a bigger draw nationally. I mean, you can say what you want about the show Sidelines, but obviously ESPN thought that A&M had a national draw if they chose the school to feature in a nationally-broadcast documentary series. Judging from ESPN's portrayal of LCC on Sidelines, LCC will be the last school ever picked for something like that. It's not only Aggies who think that red raiders are dipshits.

oh yeah.. AND, the gallery furniture bowl only alotted 9,000 tickets to A&M plus a 1,000 more since they sold out... A&M has sold 50,000 through ticketmaster on the web... now, think about this... A SOLD OUT GALLERY BOWL!!! something Tech came well short of last year

umm... A&M averaged 82,700 this year... which would be over capacity... just a litte FYI
