if simms is busting his ass for fans that dont like him, he should go to a school where he is liked...its not that hard, if he is as good as the media says he is then he could take an ok team and make them better, as randy moss did for marshall (although he didnt have the choice to stay at fsu). how could you play for fans that hate you? you see all the super stars in college football, though they might make a mistake, the fans still cheer them, joey harrington fumbles and almost gives the game to oregon state, but HE wasnt booed. you win and lose with your players, we all know that. play your best players and let them decide it. randy mcnown wasnt the best of qbs for us 2 years ago, but he was the best that we had, and he got it done when it counted. thats what texas needed, they have all the talent in the world, they just needed a leader in the big ones. simms isnt a leader. thats just my opinion, but i could be wrong.
oh, and reggie isnt a WR, hes the #1 qb in texas (#2 in the country) and i hope RC doenst fuck up his college years like he has with so many before him (sirr parker being a prime example)

Chris Simms is going to get booed regardless of his performance. Whether he throws 4 TDs or 4 INTs, it doesn't matter. That's how it goes when you're Chris Simms. You get way overhyped, and then when you make a mistake (or 3 or 4) you get disowned, but when you make a respectable showing, it's "well that was nice, but Major would have done it better." I've been defending the guy all season because, it seems, I'm one of few Texas fans who realize the guy is only human and he never asked for all the hype to begin with. But there isn't much to defend anymore. He showed his ass on Saturday and he knows it. The thing that kills me about UT fans and Chris Simms is that away from the football field, people at this school act like he is a movie star. Everyone has to point him out when he cruises around campus in his Escalade. Everyone has to follow him away from the Torchlight and Hex Rallies to beg for autographs and pictures, which, I admit, he gives with a smile, even to people who then say "you suck, but this might be worth money someday." Forgive me if I find this behavior a tad ridiculous, but hell. It is ridiculous. These are the same people holding up "We want Major" signs at football games and booing Simms even after he throws touchdown passes. I'm not saying everyone should forget what happened, and pretend that Simms is the best thing that's ever happened to Texas football. But let's be realistic. If you want to boo the guy, fine. That's your business. But don't be two-faced about it. And let's not forget that Simms isn't the only reason Texas lost. Had Dusty Mangum not missed that FG, would the Horns not have won? Had the defense realized they were playing against the same offense that only put up 7 points on them a month ago, would the Horns not have won? It's easy to blame Simms. I mean, 4 turnovers hurt. And it's convenient to pretend that there were no other factors in the loss. But if we are all as smart as we claim to be, we would realize we are kidding ourselves. Chris Simms is going to be the starter next year, whether we like it or not. It would be better for everyone concerned if we stopped acting like the guy has no talent at all and give him a reason not to choke in the big games. For instance, wouldn't it be nice if the guy had some fans to win for? And don't tell me he has to earn it. He busts his ass everyday to represent this University full of people who can't stand him. That alone should earn him more respect than he's getting, not to mention the fact that he has led the Horns to a 10 win season. Something Major has never done. And I'm still not convinced that he should have been the starter all season. I don't know that he could have led Texas to a better record than Simms did. But that's really beside the point. How great would Simms have been after spending most of his 3 years on the bench? At least now he knows what NOT to do in big games. How popular would he or Brown have been if they waited until next year to show us that? So let's use some common sense before we denounce the QB and the head coach of a team that won 10 regular season games for the first time since the creation of the Big 12.

wanna know why cu is behind nebraska? check out the loss column. uno beats dos when it comes down to the nc most times. is it right? not always. do i mind? nope. sure nu "lost big"(26 IS a HUGE loss by nu standards), but look who they lost to. furthermore, look at who colorado lost to...fresno at HOME, and tu by 34. however, no one talks about cu getting "blown out"; they just call it a tough game on the road. and yes, colorado is the hottest team in the game right now; but, i'm willing to bet my hard-earned scholarship refund check that in lincoln, or on neutral turf for that matter, nebraska wins in a rematch. regardless of the fact that i believe nebraska is a better team than cu, just look at how hard it is to beat the same team twice in one year. hell, ask mack.
bottom line, if lsu beats tennessee, nebraska deserves to go to the rose. i think they win, and then the cu/nu controversy arises. cu has scoreboard(for the first time in how many years?), but the huskers will have the best record in the nation(screw the mormons). of course, we are absolved of all of this controversy if tennessee takes care of business this week. so we wait...but rest assured i'll be yelling against that other ugly orange team on saturday.
p.s. -- who deserves the heisman? i say crouch. i've been a husker all my life, and he's one of my favorite players to ever wear scarlet and cream. he's a classy guy, has the ability to singlehandedly carry his team, and is the most balanced offensive threat on the heisman watch list. your comments?

Am I the only one who really doesn't mind the computers? Here's the thing - if you're rated in the top, say, 7 to start the season, and you win out, you have probably a 70% chance of playing in the NatChamp game. If you're rated in the top 2 and you win out, you WILL be in the Nat Champ game. Come November, if you're rated in the top 5 and you lose, you will NOT play in the NatChamp game. Folks, we've already got a playoff. Don't lose in November.
I love the pompous pageantry that is the college football bowl system. I love the fact that sportswriters and coaches get a say in who wins the mythical national championship. College football is about youth, and hope, and weird-wild-stuff. It's not supposed to be analytical and straight-and-true and dry and boring like the NFL. Don't change a thing, NCAA. But, if you do, do away with the BCS. Two polls, split NC's, bring it all back.

First of all, the Big XII's only chance of having representation in Pasadena is for Tennessee to lose to LSU. This is based on unofficial BCS standings, which should be pretty accurate, that have the top 5 BCS as Miami, Tennesse, Nebraska, Oregon, and Colorado. If Colorado hadn't lost to Fresno State, roses could've been in their future. However, they were mathematically eliminated from being one of the top two BCS teams before the Big XII Championship was played. Second, the Big XII is not an underrated football conference. The Big XII was formed to be a football powerhouse. We currently boast 4 teams in the top 25. Two of those are in the top 5. It's a shame we can't send Baylor to the WAC for football purposes. Of course, I am sure the SEC would love to do the same thing with Vanderbilt.
