So you criticize the US News rankings, and then you classify all LCC students as "superior" based on the result of one type of Engineering certification test? Gee, that makes sense!

Has anyone besides me bothered to read HOW US News comes up with their rankings? They are based on prestige (as reported by the university itself, the most weighted category), alumni giving, and that sort of thing. The only categories that have to deal with students are graduation rate (number of students who graduate versus number expected to, not the initial number) and students high school SAT/ACT score and class rank. So according to US News, Tech initially has students who are inferior to ut and a&m. Somehow these "inferior" students end up scoring higher on the FE than ut and a&m's students. What happens between high school graduation and college graduation that causes this?

OH, I'VE GOT IT! It's a college education. Tech takes 'inferior' students and produces 'superior' ones (adjectives depend on how much emphasis you put on test scores). So how is it that ut and a&m are considered superior?

As I have said before, new students are issued the latest edition of The Big Book of Bullshit- Lies That Tech Students Tell Themselves to Avoid Facing the Reality That They Actually Attend Tech upon enrolling at LCC.

That is where we differ. I respect ut and a&m. They are both good universities, and I was close to going to either one of them. I don't respect people who are so set in their ways that they won't open their eyes and realize that its a big world and nobody is right in everything they do.

I'm not going to bother arguing any of my points unless someone actually disproves them. Nobody has challenged the fact that Tech beat ut and a&m on the FE, or in Judging competition, and they admitted to having an inferior Education dept. It's funny how Education all of a sudden didn't count as a category when it was shown that a&m wasn't superior. And you can stop quoting the US News rankings. I have seen them. I am not basing my statements on some pencil-pushers calculations. According to the AP College Football rankings a&m was better than us. We all saw how those accurate that was.

I would love to see the link about ut being ranked #1 for best looking girls. If its true, I'll admit I was wrong (but I will not admit our girls are not hot).

Well.. Weatables, you must have been at the wrong parties. I know your stubborn persona wont accept that as an excuse, but as an avid partier you must seriously believe me. Sometimes some weekends just suck. I admit I have partied at UT more often than College Station, and I have been to some shitty excuses for a parties in Austin as well as some badass ones. But the only times I've been to College Station, I just havent had that much fun. But I haven't given up hope yet. I see what you guys write about, so I do believe there are cool places to go to there, I just havent been that lucky in finding them. But I still believe I was just at the wrong place at the wrong time. Which is what may have happened with you. Where did you go exactly? Personally A&M weekend sucked here because a lot of people that I know had their parents up here. Maybe that just happened to be my circle of friends, but still, parentals put a damper on partying. I know it did for me. The only place that I havent found a cool party at, not even a halfway cool party is Baylor. Possibly there are some, who knows? I will just have to keep searching. And as for the no-alcohol-in-the-city-limits, that is just alcohol sold at convenience stores. You can still get drinks at bars, resturaunts, clubs, etc. You just cant go by a case at the gas station. Which isnt as bad as it sounds because the "strip" as it is called is only about 5-10 min down the freeway. So dont diss that. We all know it sucks, but its been a probem we have all adapted too. It just forces you to buy more alcohol in quantity which ends up not being that bad-you rarely run out since there is always spare beer in the fridge planned for the next time.

Oh, and just in case you feel like bitching about how those education rankings were just in the research area and not in practical stuff, here you go: Here's all the remaining education degree fields. A&M and UT are both is almost everyone. LCC was once again not mentioned. So sad. So so sad.

Oh, and on that same site you can find where Playboy did a profile of the Dixie Chicken as the College Bar of the Month. I see nothing about LCC anywhere. As was previously stated, show us some facts.

And what the fuck do these judging teams have to do with it? A&M's academic team repeatedly beats the shit out of such teams Rice, Yale, Cornell, etc. We were number 22 in the country last year. Does that mean we have better academic programs than them? Hell no. It just means we have a better academic competetion team.

And now to burst the "better education school" bubble: UT is 13, A&M is 39. LCC is nowhere to be seen.

Oh geez, here we go again with the claims that LCC students can out-party A&M and UT, and that the cows...er, girls...are hotter in Lubbock. First of all, trying to measure alcohol consumption of an entire school is stupid and impossible, but I will mention that the Dixie Chicken in College Station sells more beer per square foot than any establishment in the United States. Secondly, in regards to the women...well, I will just say that A&M has had 3 women appear in Playboy, and the current Miss America is an Aggie. Plus, I seem to recall a stat that UT was ranked the #1 party school or #1 in hottest women or something.

Oh, and by the way, you claimed that Tech is ranked better in both Agriculture and Engineering? Well A&M's graduate program in Agricultural Engineering is #1 in the U.S., so that pretty much defeats both your claims in one fell swoop. Go to the US News and World Report college rankings and you'll find Texas Tech under the "Tier 3" section.

Lastly...Thursday at The Library on 6th Street...holy shit, dollar longnecks all night. I walked in with 15 bucks, had 10 Dos Equis, and tipped the hot bartender 5 bucks and I was good to go. Gotta love college towns and Thursday nights!
