Well, first of all the saddle tramps are a bunch of loser frat- wannabees. They are a tradition for sure, but aren't cool guys. Possibly what A&M thinks of some of the corp. About 20 years ago it was badass to be a saddle tramp, but not these days.
And about a department that may outrank A&M, its not a huge department, actually one of Tech's smallest- the Education department. Tech's teaching certification is accepted pretty much nation wide, whereas most Texas Universities' certification is only good in Texas. I know some of you engineering people are thinking "oh, please, education?" But remember- these (few) men and women will be teaching your children some day. Also dont forget- partially why you are so successful in school today is because you had excellent teachers along the way. I know Tech's department is highly respected in that sense and in this department. I have never heard anything about UT or A&M, partially because those schools are engineering & business related schools, and that is their main focus. Baylor also has an excellent education department as well.
