What happened, I have been sleeping

Howdy from Lubbock,
Good game today. It could not have been a better day for football although it did get a little bit warm. The Aggies played a great defensive game and the band looked good as usual. Just wanted to say how embarrassed many of us Raiders are for what happened after the game. It's a damn shame that this victory will not be remembered for what happened before the game, but for what happened AFTER. Tech fans could use a few lessons- I'd have to say all aggie fans stayed in the stands until the schools played their songs, and many stayed even as our idiot brethren paraded the goalposts in front of the Aggie section. As much as you guys talk smack about Tech, I love my school and always have. Today is the first day I've been embarrassed to be a Red Raider.

I am no longer talk about A.A. b/c it is one of those things that will never be completely solved and I know every one is sick of hearing it, including myself.

I guess I should have put quotes around that. Sorry I just like the phrase. I am not saying that it is a good idea or a bad one, its just one that is making hardly any progess in the almost 40 years that these laws have been passed. 40 years X 1/2 a penny = 20 cents, which it said less than half a penny,m so less than 20 cents. Plus think ok you go out to eat do you give your hottie of the oppisite sex a better tip over the hottie of the same sex? The theory of how waitors are paid is that they are employed by the customer for the time that they are your server. So there is sex, physical, and personality discrimination on your part while you decide on how much of a tip they get. The hotter and friendlier the server is the larger their tip is according to some people (mainly being young single college kids).

I've got two things to say:
1. Jolie, do you even know what pillage means?
2. Jolie making an argument to Eric is about as effective as a blind, one-armed man trying to get a hit off Schilling.

Just got in from formal, and I had a good time. I was invited to a fraternity party on Friday, and I am quite excited. (see this is a different side of me than was here like 2 days ago, but I met a guy in a fraternity that I do not know, and he seems pretty cool) OK well now um reply to Eric on A.A. I am not saying that its not a good idea to have these laws, but they are almost impossible to enforce and have had little success in the past 36 years. Hell I am all about the Death Penalty, yes it is hard to catch the guys that do rape, rob, pillage... but those are things that if the government didn't take care of there would be some Dead S.O.B.s out there. I am not saying that affirmative action is good or bad, I am just saying that these laws are just things that get passed to make the politicians look good to their constituates. Off that topic, OMG I am Freaking!!! Eric you joked to me about that when this whole thing started and I was freaking out, and now... Dude I am starting worry again. I HATE YOU!!!! Even though you are actually just playing the role of the oppinion deviator. It gets really annoying, although it is nice see the other view point.

hey Bluto, I'm certainly not paranoid about it. It really pissed me off that I got up this morning and got ready for my 1 and only class and went with a huge hangover and then this happened. So yeah, people need to get a life.

We are number 19 on the list of possible targets due to the library and Bush's frequent visits. He's here so much that it hardly makes it on the front page of the Batt anymore. The only reason I knew he and Quayle were here on Tuesday and Wednesday was because of a marked increase in unmarked black suburbans and helicopters on West Campus.

Sarah and Wheatables...I would guess that some intrepid soul spotted a few particles of dust, assumed it MUST be Anthrax, and reported it to the authorities. Because, as we all know, College Station is ALWAYS having to fend off terrorist attacks due to the bustling economy and/or plethora of world-renowned landmarks. Anyway, it should only inconvenience everyone for a few days, and when they realize it was dust, or powdered sugar, or cocaine, or whatever...then it'll be business as usual.

Too bad Americans are ultra paranoid.

Sarah,
I just got kicked out of Thompson thirty minutes ago. Apparently, they have closed both Thompson and Fermier for the day. When I was leaving, I saw a "special unit" College Station Fire Dept. vehicle drive up. UPD also has the area blocked off....hmmmm?

My building was just evacuated (Fermier hall) when our class started today. Some guy just walked in and said we are evacuating the building everyone out now. Anyone know whats going on?

That's a pretty flimsy arguement Jolie. Only 15% of crimes in the United States ever end in someone being caught and convicted. That's pretty low. By your arguement we should just do away with all laws "because the government is never going to be able to get rid of this problem" and it's better for society if people do kill other people because they obviously had "personality conflicts" anyway. Problem solved. I know that's oversimplifying it, but that is the basis of your arguement: difficult enforcement = bad law. That and your whole "personaily conflicts" scenerios. While internal strife MIGHT effect the bottom line of a small business, 1 person's disagreement with another would have no effect on the bottom line of a large corporation. And large corporations make up a strong majority of the GDP. And then there's the externalities that I'm not going to get into because I have class and frankly, they'd make this discussion even more boring than it already is.

And so with that, back to drinking stuff:

Sleep don't drink no beer.

Drunk, don't worry about it. Tulsa has only won a single game this season thus far (1 and 6) and that was by luck at home in thier first game which was a blowout 51-0 over Indiana State. But since the game tomorrow is only being televised on Oklahoma Pay-per-view all we get to see is highlights and a final score.

I'm fully aware that the quote comes from Top Gun. I'm also fully aware that his name isn't sum-youn-kim-whatever ... I'm pissed off. And the fact that it was that dude's away message was what was funny.

OU_GUY - I figured that Tulsa was a reschedule, but I was too lazy to check - sooooo, take out the words "late season" and my comment holds. And people were bitching about OUR OOC schedule. Sheesh. And I love the way you toss in the comment about how "Baylor has handed UT a loss before." Yep. Once in the last 25 years, in the Grant Teaff going-away-present bowl. Don't worry - we won't pull an A&M and lose to the sisters of charity. Just don't lose to Tulsa ... I'd hate to have to enjoy that all weekend.

AFFIRMATIVE ACTION: I am doing a huge group project on the Fair Pay Act of 2001. Which is an ammendment to the Fair Pay Act of (some year). It simply states the same thing as the Equal Pay Act of 1963 and the Civil Rights Act of 1964. As I see it and fear there is nothing that the government can do to enforce these laws. Companies hire on the basis of knowledge, experience, and personality. Say I am a male hating female whom is interviewing a male. I do not employ him due to the fact that I didn't like him based on his sex. Say I hired him, how long is he going to stay with me due to the fact of my personality. That is what is great about having a college education, you have conflicting personality with your employer you have the oppurtunity to quit and find another job. You have conflicting personality with your employee, you fire them. Say this African American applies to a company and the owner is racist. The owner does not hire this man due to his personality conflicts (he is racist) with him now, or b/c he knows the African American will be with the company for a short time (due to personality conflicts). Having a high turn over rate is not healthy to the company and therefore the employer is doing what is in the best intrest of the company and is not discriminating on race. This is the reason I find Affirmative Action a joke. It is a way for politicians to say hey look I care... but the law can't actually do anything/ be enforced (a theory that came out of my POLS 207 Class with Dan Krejci). I feel no matter what the government does it is never going to ever be able to rid of this problem. A company that has personality conflicts with different people based on race, sex, color... Will always be to a disadvantage out in the work force. So maybe some day the problem will be resolved due to intellegence of employers and employees, and not b/c of the government. The government has little power when it comes to Affirmative Action. Look we have had over 36 years to fix the problem, and the problem still exists with the wage gap closing at less than 1/2 a penny a year (according to something I read, I don't have my sources, Professor Gilbertz has the binder). I feel bad that this is the way it is, and I wish there was a way to fix the problem. Hopefully one day.

Drunk Story 6. If you bothered to check your scheduling, originally this was an off weekend for the Sooners. Due to the events on September 11th the TU (Tulsa University) @ OU game was postponed and subsequently rescheduled for this weekend. Some teams didn't have a choice or couldn't reschedule *cough* Tech *cough* vs. Utep Since they didn't want to say they weren't going to the Big 12 Championship. OU figured they'd honor the agreement with TU to play them.

And not sure who to call on the A&M @ Tech game. Should be a really good game though.
UT @ Baylor - Baylor has handed UT a loss before, just don't think it will happen this year. UT by 14.
