There are recruiting whores at A&M? Well since all your cheerleaders are male, I guess you had to give the girls something to do.

I don't have personal knowledge of sexual encounters occurring between recruits and students, but I'm sure it happens from time to time, probably at a sorority house in West Campus. If you actually knew any of the so-called recruiting whores at A&M or at Texas, then you would realize how stupid such a comment is. Do you really think a coach would send some slut to meet a recruit and his parents? I can't speak for what goes on at A&M, but it doesn't happen here, and I highly doubt that it happens there either.

I only said that because why else would schools have "recruiting hosts" that are mainly hot, young women? I was watching a news special on it awhile back, and it is pretty obvious that one role some of the girls play is fuckbuddy for recruits.

If that's the implication you want to give it, there would be a lot of same-sex whoring going on.

Yes, there are recruiting whores at A&M as well.

Perhaps I should have been more specific. At Texas, as well as most other Division I-A programs, there are spirit organizations for most of the sports teams that help with recruiting and promoting their respective teams. For football, it's the Texas Angels; for baseball, the Iron Spikes and the Disch-Falk Diamonds; for basketball, the Wranglers and Wrangler Sweethearts. It really is standard procedure. But I guess it is possible that someone inclined to post as Ben Dover knows something the rest of us don't ...

Right. I'm sure Mack Brown would turn down a 5-star recruit because his grades weren't good enough.

Right.

I thought recruiting procedures were fairly similar from school to school in that respect, but apparently not.

I didn't say that every guy we recruit is a genius, but rarely does Texas actively recruit players who have difficulty qualifying. All 18 of our recruits have already qualified and 14 of them are honor students. 15 if you count walk-on Marcus Griffin, twin brother of scholarship recruit Michael Griffin. Whether you believe it or not, it's something few schools in the country can claim.

In order to be recruited I had to arrange a late night meeting with Mack in his office alone. Why? How did the other recruits do it?

You don't think it's possible because A&M doesn't place academic accomplishments near the top of their priority list when it comes to recruiting. Texas does.

And yes, I do know these guys have a lot of heart and determination. How I know this is not really any of your business, but if you know anything about the Texas football program and how our recruiting system works, you can figure it out.

It's entirely possible--the top 125/550 grads from my HS class had 4.0's or better. It gets tight at the top, and with the amount of honors/AP classes available, it's not insane to think that that many graduated with the equivalent of straight-A GPAs.

>the kids have a lot of heart and determination.

Ummm . . . do you know these people personally or are you just repeating spinbandits' quotes.

And, all A's? Whatever. I'm sorry, I don't buy it.

This class may turn out to be our most productive since Mack has been here. We lost out on some players we wanted, but we filled some holes instead of trying to reel in every 5 star player available. The kids we got this year have a lot of heart and determination. And probably the best thing about this class is that 14 of the 18 players we signed are straight-A students. All the stars and #1 rankings in the world don't mean anything if the kids don't qualify or can't handle their academic responsibilities in college.

JD I don't know what kind of morons run the site where you got your list of recruiting classes, but if you go to any site that has a decent reputation A&M and Texas and OU are legitimate top 10 recruiting classes nationally. I know that rankings are pretty much pointless before any football is played, but to say that A&M's class is 5th in the Big 12 is absurd. We are a solid 2nd tied with Texas

What, gone 7-5 and sold 1000 tickets to a bowl game? Wow, we should follow Mike Leach's lead!

11-2 and consecutive top-10 season ending seasons is a little better, methinks.

Tool.

True, it's all very objective.
You never know how well those recruits are going to play... I mean, look at what UT & A&M have been doing with their great recruiting classes and what tech has been doing with our average classes... ;-)

The rankings of recruits is bullshit PERIOD. You can say, good class, bad class, great class, horrible class. But ranking them is ridiculous. I'd say A&M got a great class this season. But at the same time, I'd say OU and UT also got a great class. Now, it's up to coaching and luck. (And, no offense, but I think UT really has the shit end of the stick with both of those. But they've got a good schedule). Speaking of which, if Kansas St. goes unbeaten and is ranked in the top 15, it'll be a national travesty.

I've been using my name. And I think it's good too b/c you could come up with original names like the real josh and josh prime. You could come up with something a little different with each post, whatever pops into your head. Like O.J. instead of O.G.

most rankings i've seen had a&m closer to #10, but i think ranking a recruiting class before they've even all played a down of college football is pretty worthless because it's pure subjective speculation...woo woo.

I've never had the flu, believe it or not. Never had a flu shot either. I get the occasional cold or sinus infection though, and those suck badly enough, so I feel for you, Kelly.

On another note, someone who follows A&M recruiting please tell me whether or not you think the Aggies really pulled in the #3 class in the country (according to one of numerous sources). A great class, no doubt, but #3 is a little high. I don't see that much difference between Texas and A&M's classes this year.

hmm...i haven't had the flu since middle school.

woo woo
