Headradio -- maybe so, but Clinton was directly responsible for the 19 Rangers who died in Somalia because he did not authorize the needed armored equipment that would have protected them. Then after they were killed, Clinton pulled out like a coward and abandoned their entire objective, therefore effectively saying that the soldiers died for nothing. At least GWB will stay and get the job done, unlike Clinton in Somalia and Bush Sr. in the Gulf War.

Maybe I"m just screwing things up in my memory, but did Clinton launch troops or a bombing campaign right when Columbine happened?

The line was insane. I mean, insane. I got to the Union at 7, and I was the 228th person in line... I think they gave out 320 pairs of tickets at the Union box office. By 10 a.m., the line stretched from the far north end of the hallway, down both flights of stairs, around the corner, into the courtyard, and then straight back as far as we could see. People were saying that there were people lined up at Bass at 4 a.m. They handed out line passes (basically, a slip of paper with a number on it) that guaranteed you tickets if you fell within whatever number of passes they had at 8, then they gave out tickets at 10... I am utterly exhausted now... and my ass hurts from sitting on the hard floor for three hours. The nice part about the line passes was that as long as you were back in your spot at ten, you could run to class, the bathroom, wendy's, etc.

Unjustified force? All Saddam has had to do was prove to the rest of the world that he wasn't making weapons of mass destruction. He's been given no less than three separate chances to do this, and yet he has consistently and repeatedly kept UN (read, NOT just american) inspectors from his factories, his towns, and his truths. In addition, his name is linked to the Al-Queda, as well as the documented terrors against his own people. He's a menace. And since we're the biggest boy on our block, we're going to do something about it.

Fuck saddam. If you peace-niks want to live in a world that guarantees opression and misery to half your population ( WOMEN ) and pretty much ignores the rest of the populace (those without big guns), then perhaps you should take your asses to the middle east. I'm sure you can "talk to him" and "understand his viewpoint." Me, I'll take some action, and make the world a better place.

Watch out Saddam - your time is coming to an end.

i'm not disagreeing with you, but unfortunately i think a lot more american soldiers will die during this use of unjustified force.

I find it ironic that most of the anti-war protesters on the UT campus will be attending a speech given by Bill Clinton, who three times during his presidency sent in U.S. troops and carried out military action in countries that had posed no direct threat to the U.S. -- Haiti, Somalia, and Bosnia. And let's not forget the bombing campaign that Clinton launched upon Iraq on the eve of the impeachment vote.

So my question is...where were all these anti-war protesters back then? Did they line the Congress Avenue bridge and protest Clinton during any of the FOUR times he used unjustified force against other countries? I doubt it! But they're falling all over themselves now that a Republican president is proposing to do the same thing. Geez, at least be a little more consistent, then you wouldn't look so obviously partisan and agenda-driven.

The last protest I remember was against the Vagina Festival. Unless you count the four people standing outside protesting the Circus.

Probably at an average of 1.2 a year. If that.

Yeah Fat Tire, there are protests here.

Clinton's speech had better be worth me waking my ass up at 5:30 for. And if anyone ends up with an extra ticket, or extra tickets, please let me know--a friend's car broke down yesterday on her way back to Austin, so she's not going to be able to get tickets.

i think there's a protest for everything here. is it the same at aTm?

Here are all the complete details of the new law.

85 decibels is basically as loud as a vacuum running. But it has to be 85 decibels at all regions of the property line. So if they are playing on the back patio, they're screwed.

I'm still looking on when and where to vote against this.

It bothers the hell out of me. A lot of the reason Austin is Austin is for the live music... I've got no grasp on the sound levels that those impositions will create, but someone told me that it'll be ridiculously low... my question is this: what will still be kosher? Will Django Walker playing at a frat house in west campus be below or above? What about live music at Shady Grove in the summer outside?

That is pretty ironic that the group preserved free speech by not letting the man speak.

I remember when a UT group crashed a speech of a black congressman arguing against affirmative action. When the man gave up and walked off the students told the press how it was a victory for free speech and how they had preserved democracy by not letting racists spread their message of hate. It was weird.

The "young conservatives," eh? Man, I didn't even know such a group existed.

As a libertarian, it's great to kind of be in the middle of both political parties and laugh at both.

They are... I honestly do not think that the protestors have anything to do with the lack of conservatives that UT brings to speak--it's a liberal campus, and a liberal city, and oftentimes they try to bring speakers that students and faculty are interested in seeing.

Powell spoke 2 years ago to add to the quota of conservatives that have spoken... Young Conservatives of Texas have alreayd gone on record saying they'll be protesting Clinton.

You see. This is what happens when we let idiots watch movies. Sure Cedric the Entertainer was funny playing an old guy, but this is the kind of stupidity we could all do without.

Yes, but the problem is that whenever a conservative speaker is scheduled, there are loud, vocal, disruptive protests by liberals. I know Jensen was once arrested for disrupting a George W. Bush speech a few years ago. And so UT probably has a harder time attracting conservative speakers because there is a track record of being harassed.

However, it'll be interesting to see if some conservative group protests Clinton. I'm sure they will, it's such an easy target for them.

Last semester Karen Hughes spoke... is that at least some redemption in the eyes of the Republicans out there? Then again, we also had Patch Adams and Gloria Steinem, so maybe not.

I think they're going to reincarnate Lenin and have him give a speech.

Amazing, first you have Robert Jensen actually teach there. Then you get Noam Chomsky to speak there. And now you have Clinton speaking. Seriously, whose next, Kim Jong?

Well, it could always be worse, you could live in Lubbock and not get anybody.

My mom told me to dye my hair black, gain 40 pounds, and wear a beret. I'm glad she's not the only one with a sick sense of humor out there.

Clinton is speaking at UT? And people are lining up to hear it? Amazing.

Kelly, you should go in a blue dress and a black beret. Put a stain on the dress, too.
