Yeah, every site expresses opinion and not fact, and quite frankly, I think it's all a bunch of bullshit. The regional bias is evident in every poll someone puts out. No one takes into consideration how well a school recruits players that it actually needs. They're too busy figuring out who got the most 5-star blue chips. The good thing about the way Texas has recruited in the past three years is that we're addressing one area of need at a time. In 2001, it was the offensive line. In 2002, it was the defensive line. This year, it's the secondary. Of course, you mix in other positions too, but at least we're trying to build something now instead of just taking the most highly rated players out there. I am growing more and more concerned about WR though. We've got a great QB coming up, but we lose all but one (Tony Jeffrey) of our prominent WRs after next season.
Kelly, I know what you mean about buying books. The Co-op claims they haven't jacked up prices since creating their monopoly on textbooks, but that's crap. We're getting hosed, and they know it. I just finished registering also, so it's not like I can jump on the internet and find all my books before classes start. And I certainly would not buy a used textbook online before I had the chance to look it over anyway. One of these days when I'm the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, I'll create a new bookstore to undercut the Co-op, just for fun, to keep those bastards in check.

Yeah, but the problem is that 1) I hate shipping, 2) I haven't had good luck with EBay, 3) I wait til the last minute to finalize classes each semester, so I don't have the time to really wait for books to ship, or to have them priority mailed.
Bob--the illustrious University Co-op bought out the competition within the last few years. When I started at UT as a freshman, Texas Textbooks and Bevo's Bookstore still existed. Now, it's pretty much the Co-op or nothing at all. I wouldn't mind this, but they jack the prices up so much. Case in point: my Italian book from last semester has 2 price tags on it (it's a used book). One is from Texas Textbooks, and it reads $46.50. This book is not in the best shape. The cost at the Co-op? $68. That's ridiculous. Oh, but they give back $50,000 a year to the students of UT. Right, thanks for the dollar you're spending on me, guys. My friend wants to release a termite colony in the store.
