UT is 0-1 so far this season in that realm, so until UT beats a decent Big XII team, I wouldn't come on here and rant and rave about how UT is a perennial favorite to win the National Championship. And I fully realize A&M lost to Tech and only beat lowly Baylor, but I don't see Aggies on here talking about a Top 10 finish. Face it...every year it's the same story at UT: We'll get 'em next year when the wind isn't blowing so strongly or when the ball bounces the other way or when we pass instead of run or when we have fewer interceptions or when...

Well, Wheatables, four years tends to end the college careers of most people, seeing as how that's the limit for eligibility.

On an unrelated note...Pace, the reasons you make Arlington look bad are as follows:

1) You are a disgrace to the education system of the city. First and foremost, you go to Tech. I could write better than you in the eighth grade and you happen to be in College (well, sort of). Knowing the way math is done in Lubbock, you are probably in the "16th grade." Last Fall, I actually had a group of people in Lubbock ask me "what grade are you in?"

2) Your writing never stirs an audience, and we all laugh at your ignorance and incoherent logic. The only person that defends your statements is none other than Brad, your partner in crime at LCC. For all I know, he has to defend you because he's your lover.

3) You're from Arlington, and you're a dumbass. Case and point.

And the careers of their recruiting classes are quickly coming to an end.

Matt, what hype did we have in the 90's? that's just a dumb thing to write. We sucked ASS in the 90's (one good game against NU notwithstanding). The hype has come recently, basically with the arrival of the Simms/Redding recruiting class. And the last two years, we haven't lived up to it. Of course, it's a bit unfair, since we didn't generate any of it, either, especially regarding one certain QB. UT has been WAY down in the last 20 years. We're now back up a little bit, and I'm encouraged by that. If a few years down the road we're still having the problems we're having today, rest assured that the $$ that drives the department will rectify matters.

Complaceny will get you nowhere... It's why Aggie football just isn't as much fun anymore knowing coming into the season that you'll be in the Top 25, but won't finish better than 8-4. If Texas is happy being the Buffalo Bills of college football then more power to them -- the teams that DO win the big games are on a whole other level than UT is and always has been. That's not a knock on UT -- but one or two years of not living up the hype is one thing, but this has been going on for damn near a decade.

OU guy ... you want us to just sit back and be happy with what we've got? You mean we shouldn't want more? The ag's keep harping on the "wait till next year" stuff because for them, there's no such thing as next year - they're still going to lose to tech. For us, we'll be right back in the hunt next year - and there's nothing that says we're out of the hunt next year (well, there are a few things, but stranger has happened).

All you others out there who think you know what's best for our program - I'm glad that we've got who we've got. Some changes need to be made, but we're in a good place. I LIKE being one of the 10 or so teams mentioned every year to have a shot at the MNC.

Texas has been talking about "Next Year Being the Year for the Big Game" since man landed on the moon. You'd think that 30+ years of having "next year" be the one would get old in Austin. Guess not.

The longhorns need to take a lesson from the Aggies. You don't hear the Ags yelling and hoping for National Champion dreams. They haven't had one in 60+ years. So just sit back, relax, find a coach who CAN do something with all the talent he has recruited, and then maybe we'll talk.

As for Simms, I just don't know anymore. Anyone who says he isn't good is just over emotionalizing - he wouldn't be starting at Texas if he weren't good. But at this point, I gotta admit that something just ain't right in boomtown.

The bottom line is this. Despite our loss to OU (again), our program is in better shape than any other in Texas, and in better shape than about 95% of the rest of the country. We probably won't win the national championship this year, but we're on the short list of teams who have a SHOT every year. And next year we get to try it with a new QB, so maybe that'll be the difference. Although, if Greg Davis still has a job, I want to see each and every person on here who says "Simms Sucks" NOTICE that every other QB in this system will have the same problems. But I don't expect that to happen.

Good luck to OU the rest of the way - that's a damn good football team. They've got problems of their own, but they're in the drivers spot for a shot at Miami in Tempe, now.

I wouldn't talk about no national championship for Texas... there's no guarantee that OU will win Big 12 South... Remember last year?
