P.S. Exception to the tuition rule includes previously stated Lamer in Beaumont. They must not care all that much, or need the extra students. OU doesn't have a need for more students. So why should they lower thier tuition for us Texans? They are 850 freshman over the number that enrolled last year. Not only making ALL the dorms on campus freshman halls, but putting a strain on all the apartments around Norman.

Kelly think about it. Would a school who has a large influx of students from out-of-state make an arrangement to drop the price of thier tuition? That would only help the students, not the University at least not in the Dollar department. Remember Universities are nothing more than money grubbing vaccuums who happen to give you a piece of paper after you spend enough time and money within thier expensive halls, and 'learning' from some over paid professor from some other country that doesn't even speak proper english in the first place, but needs to teach because he/she couldn't hack it in the real world. Okay sorry *kicks the soap box to the corner* Carry on, nothing more to see here. Boomer Sooner.

Yeah, but with the amount of people that go to OU from Texas, especially the DFW area, you figure they must have something.

But if you wanted to go to Lamar University and you were from, say...California...you'd have to pay out-of-state tuition.
You'd also be retarded.

Sometimes a school near the border of one state will set up an agreement to allow in-state tuition for residents of the bordering state. For example, Lamar University in lovely Beaumont allows residents of Louisiana to pay in-state tuition.
Wow, aren't Louisiana residents lucky.

Isn't there some kind of catch where if you are from a state bordering the state you're attending school in you are eligible for in state tuition or a discount or something? Maybe that's just a Texas rule, but I somehow remember a girl I worked with who was from Oklahoma getting in-state tuition since OK borders TX...

Maybe that explains why every single bus is late on the first few days of each semester.

Ok yea. I guess our bus driver decided it was lunch time on our route today. She gets out and walks across the street and got some pizza from double dave's and then came back 15 minutes later to drive again. WTF?!

I joined the rest of you in going class this past Monday. Of course I don't really call it class. A programming class and a business course at a community college hardly seems worth it, but I need them to graduate. And what can I say, $21/a credit hour is a shitload cheaper then $225 an hour at OU (again Damn out-of-state tuition). In some respect you have you love DCCCD. Oh well with no class Friday it's off to Greenville tonight. Boomer Sooner.

Two weeks, yeah... 2222 is such a pretty road. Austin is a wonderful city except for the cost of housing and the traffic. Otherwise, I have no complaints. Unfortuantely, those are the two absolutely unavoidable aspects of the city. *sigh*

Well Kelly, the advantage of going early is that not only do I get parking right in front of the law building, but I also avoid the huge traffic backup on 2222 that occurs between 7:30am and 8:30am...we'll see how long this strategy of mine lasts (I'm guessing 2 weeks).

I'm just impressed that you're willing to get up early enough to get a spot on Dean Keeton... I'd just take my chances with the Campus Loop and get C parking.

I found out today how to beat both the traffic problems in Austin and the parking problems at UT.
1) Drive to campus at 6am.
2) Get parking spot on Dean Keeton.
3) Recline driver's seat and set cell phone alarm for 7:30am
4) Sleep.
5) Wake up and go to class.

Yeah, with a roommate... there is actually a nice complex in west campus, two bedrooms, one bath, furnished for $500 a month, 12 month lease... deals do exist... and I talked to someone that has a nice apt. on Lamar for around $550--one bedroom. I don't think it's possible to live alone within walking distance of campus unless you are the child of a millionaire.

$500 a month in rent? In Austin? I hope you're planning on living in Slumtown Village Apartments (motto: "Deep in the ghetto so your drugs are accessible!"). The cheapest I found anything respectable was $650 a month for a one-bedroom. I got a place in a brand new complex out here by Lake Travis. Yeah, it's 12 miles to campus, but I go so early everyday that it's only about a 20 minute drive.
P.S. If you're talking about living with a roommate and your share being $500, then ignore this post.

It is the traffic in Austin that makes me willing to pay more than $500 a month in rent when I finally move out of the dorms so I can walk to class.
