Is anything cool going down in College Station on Sat. night?

This is the same town that can't even get the students out to vote to extend alcohol availability hours to 2AM...

2 problems:

1) Most students aren't registered here. You can't just go voting all willy-nilly in city elections. I'm still officially a resident of Arlington because I haven't changed my registration.

2) Most people, especially students, don't give a rat's ass.

I just reread your post. We do have mayor. Her name is Mcilhaney. The city council is made up of a mayor and 6 councilmen.

Yeah your right. The city council appoints the city manager but the city council sets policy. The city manager is responsible for directing the workforce and programs of the city in accordance with ordinances, rules, and regulations adopted by the council. In short the council is the final authority on all policy decisions that determine the scope and fuctions of the city government. It does no good to just put a mayor in office because the other six councilmembers would just out vote them. We need to fill the other 3 open positions. If we managed to gather around 2,000 votes for 4 students (out of the 7 positions), whatever they decided would become policy.
It means a lot that tamut.co would give its support because the internet is the best tool we have to win.

It seems like a good idea. However, College Station has a Council-Manager form of goverment. Instead of an elected mayor, we have a city manager who is appointed by the city council. Regardless, if an A&M student was running for a city office, TamUt.com would be glad to give them some publicity.

A&M what's up? Listen, we all bitch about the cops in this town and the fucked up policies city hall comes up with, but why do we sit on our ass and let it happen? On May 4th city hall will have a municipal election. The mayor and three council positions are up for election. A&M has around 44,000 students and the city of College Station's population is around 66,000. It doesn't make sense that we don't have a representative. If we did we could have said something when they came up with party task force or the damn parking meters at Northgate. I am seriously considering running for mayor. I have been going to the town meetings since the fall and they things they come up with in there just amaze me. I got the results from the elections of 2001 and 2000 from the City Secretary. The numbers are pathetic. The mayor of College Station was elected with only 1,294 votes. What do ya'll think?

Ok....I want to know the name of the smartass that scheduled spring break the same time as midterms. Do they want us to fail these tests?

I'm gonna have to go with Bluto on this one and say that I'm just living it up. I do have a test on Friday, but it's in one of my last lower level classes so I'm not worried. Anyway, I'm a little drunk right now...it's amazing how aderall will totally make you sober no matter how much you drink...

Well John Pace, this is the middle of the semester. I don't know how they do it at Tech, but everywhere else it means a shitload of tests and projects due RIGHT before spring break. And wait! Isn't spring break the week after next? Wow... what a coincidence.

Crayons are not for résumé writing. Crayons are only for coloring pictures and writing letters to lawyers during trademark disputes.

It's that time of the year again when we all start sending out resumes for summer jobs. And seeing as how the economy blows monkey spooge right now, you're sure to get a ton of rejection letters in the mail. Already they have started rolling in for me. And they're all written in the same candy-ass apologetic tone. "You have excellent qualifications, but unfortunately..." or "We are very impressed with your background. However...". Seriously, I am going to start sending out resumes written in crayon and soaked in beer, highlighting my experience as a McDonald's line cook and listing my extracurricular activities as "hanging out near preschool playgrounds". The dumb bastards will probably still send me the same form-letter rejection telling me they were impressed, but sorry no job. All I want is some truth. Tell me that you can't hire me and that your own job is hanging by a thread. Tell me that I suck and that you nailed my resume to the wall in the break room for everyone to laugh at. Just be honest with me instead of jerking me off as you deny me employment and force me into summer school.
